hi this will be the first trip where I take an ipad and a laptop
do I have to take both out of the bags and put them separately on the belt?
Can I keep them in individual cases or do they have to be completely out
thank yo u:)

We only took our iPads and they were in just their protective covers. They had to be out and we had to even turn them on for the security people so they could see that they were indeed what they appeared to be.
Tom (:macwave:... better safe than sorry...)

Traveled with both to MCO last week from New York. The laptop had to be removed and placed alone in a bin. The iPad didn't even have to come out of the backpack.

It really can vary not just from airport to airport but jobsworth airport person to person. I swear I've encountered some agents who will moan no matter what you do. Then there are others counting the minutes to the end of their shift who you think would probably pass anything without further enquiry
In general though, I leave cameras and ipads in my carry on but remove laptops.

We normally put our laptops in a container on their own for scanning. Only once have we been asked to turn it on and if you ever that was an internal flight from Gatwick to Plymouth :rolleyes2:

I've never once been asked to turn my laptop on, but at JFK I did have to take it out of its bag to go through the x-ray machine on a tray.
