Well we are on the Auto Train. Left about 20 minutes early. Stopped in Florence,SC around 11:30 or so for a crew change. Got about 20 minutes further and here we have been for over two hours now as the freight train in front of us hit a truck. No word on when we might start moving again.

Yep, welcome to the world of train travel. I used to take the train from Central NY into NYC for work. Was delayed six hours one of the times (more than one delay over the course of the years) because the train hit a person in a WC. It was terrible. The person had committed suicide, but it was still very traumatic for all of us.

So yep, as nice as train travel can be, there can also be serious delays.

We are moving. About 3 hr delay. We are on the wrong side of the train to have been able to see much but we could see flashing lights as we went by.

I spent 4 hours sat somewhere between Tucson and Houston once because someone had gone under the train. The train was so behind schedule that Amtrak gave all the passengers free dinner.

It happens a lot over there - why do people still walk the tracks?

Often the most direct route between two places. Also, kids will... I used to. Use the rails as a balance beam.

Well glad to hear you are moving again.

A lot of the time people are planning to end up under the train :sigh: It is very rare that it is actually an accident.

Donna and John arrived finally and checked into the Art of Animation at about 4pm.

It is really busy here this weekend so they are going to give Epcot a miss and go to DTD instead.
