Who else would like to jump from 120,000 feet (23 miles) and go 690 MPH (Mach 1)? Not me!!

http://bcove.me/xhlk7r2g or you can find the story and video here http://www.b.weather.com/news/two-extreme-skydivers-20121009

First off, Felix is a cutie!
Second, good for them!
Third, what would be next for Felix after this?
Fourth, while I still want to sky dive, that's just crazy!

I guess it didn't happen yesterday. The winds had kicked up right before it was going to happen. Anyone hear when it's been rescheduled for?

Nope. Nothing yet. Supposedly they're monitoring for possible new launch days. Guess we'll find out when we find out.

Tom (:macwave:... going down...)

He may be cute, (hummer hummer) but he's a nutter, who would willingly do that? :mental::mental::mental:

I always wanted to sky dive but not that high!

My lovely are you well.

 Yes! I can only imagine how absolutely amazing the free fall portion must have been. Can you imagine the incredible sound of the wind rushing by your ears? The sensation of being alone in space without a 'chute (until you deployed it of course)? Just amazes me to think about it, never mind actually have the chance to do it!

We were glued to the coverage of this, and when he was standing waiting to jump we both felt really dizzy! It really made Mission Space look boring! It really was incredible though

That was :mental:

That overhead shot of him falling down from the capsule was incredible. And what an amazing view. :worship:

Actually, I can't. Up there, there's not enough air to create any sound. I imagine the first part of his free fall was actually silent. At least till he got down where the atmosphere was thicker.

The whole thing kind of reminds me of the bit from Douglas Adam's "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" about the sperm whale and the bowl of Petunias. :mental:

Tom (:macwave:... still incredible...)

I just saw the video....amazing and terrifying. I don't need to see the world from that high up. (However, I still want to skydive too)

Yes, the silence must have been pretty amazing, too. I did mean the wind, once his descent was closer to earth.
