There seems to be a rumour that the Festival of the Lion King will be closing in January 2013 to make way for the new Avatar Land.

Disney's plan is to move the show to a new theater, but it sounds like the show will close completely before this happens. The new theater is expected to be built behind Tusker House in Africa.

Is it just me or is Avatar land just a stupid idea? I don't see how it fits in with the park though I suppose that argument could be made for DinoLand.

No, I have not seem Avatar. It doesn't even look interesting to me. Yes, I know the theming is supposed to be extraordinary. Still looks silly.

Watch it Johnie, then you'll see. I am a fan of avatar and I think the possibilities with new technology could be awesome

I think anything new and fresh is a good idea. I particularly like the idea of the show moving toward or near Tusker House. It seems so remote where it currently is. It won't be nice to have it "dark" for awhile, and I feel bad for those who will miss it, but once it's up and running in it's new place it should be a nice improvement for the entire Harambe area.

 I agree and I can't see them waiting to long before it finds it's new home.

I love that show and it is a nice respite from the heat so I hope they don't close it completely.

I saw the title and my heart skipped a beat.. I don't mind them moving the show (although I am another one who doesn't see any way that this Avatar business will fit), but if they close it I will be heart broken!

Pleeeease Disney don't take away my Lion King show :surrender:

Makes perfect sense for this show to move to Africa. I'm not big on park shows but this one is something special. I don't know what to think yet about Avitarland though.
