View Full Version : The Other August Secret's Meet at Walt Disney World

Wendy

I know Dawn is having a get together at her villa, but Mari and I were wondering whether anyone fancied meeting at one of the parks or resorts as well :wiggle:

We were thinking it might be nice to go for something to eat or maybe even a dessert party to watch Illuminations or Wishes if there are enough of us. It doesn't have to be either of those though any other suggestions would be appreciated :D

Unfortunately, due to other commitments there is no way we can be down there in August, unless we hit the lottery.

Wendy
15-01-2013, 11:18 PM
When are you going Vikki?

Dawn
16-01-2013, 07:55 AM
We'll try. Depends on when and how much. We have a tightish budget and two grandmas to consider.

lisaw

Would love to if we are still there when you decide a date, happy to do any of those suggestions, think dates could be a problem though

Wendy
16-01-2013, 11:13 AM
Looking at the dates when everyone is there it would have to be either the 26th or 28th August  not much choice :sorry:

If we can decide on a date, then we can decide what to do. Hopefully something can be arranged to fit in with everyone:)

lisaw
16-01-2013, 03:35 PM
The only one of those we could do would be the 26th.

Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex - The Sports Experience
2-hour birthday parties. Be advised that complex closes each night at 5pm.
Price: $19.95 + tax per person (Same for adults & children; minimum of 10 guests) - price includes general admission to the complex and The Sports Experience
Hours: 11am - 1pm; 12pm - 2pm; 2pm - 4pm; Available 7 days a week (times are TBD on select days during Atlanta Braves Spring Training).

Thoughts?

We get back from our cruise on 26th so no good for us but even if it were 28th we're not doing any parks so it would be no go for us anyway.Hope you all have a fab time :-)Sandra

So looking back, it looks like it will be small meet

Lisa and Family
Mari and Family
Chris and me

Dawn and Family - possibly
Johnie - possibly

Is that right or have things changed  I thought there might have been a few more.

What would you like to do, Ohana's, Pirates and Pal Cruise, Crystal Palace, Be Our Guest, Wishes Dessert Party, something that doesn't cost very much like Dole Whips or Floats, I don't know  any other suggestions

Johnie

same here!

but would prefer something more organized... like dinner, or the desserts party if we have enough people, how many do we need?

There's 4 of us, but 2 are very hiper happy little girls hahaha, so I will get to talk more if they are being entertained

Johnie
28-01-2013, 09:44 PM
There will probably be 2 in my party. Not sure who yet lol. If nothing else, I may just come down for a longish weekend.

Wendy
28-01-2013, 11:02 PM
I don't think it matters how many of us there are Mari for any of the things we might do.

Mari
30-01-2013, 02:21 AM
Super!!!

:)

Well then, maybe we should meet in the late afternoon/early evening :) ??

Desserts party or dinner :) both sound really good to me!!

The Wishes dessert party can be rushed. Dinner could be a good option. Is there any place you particularly want to go?

Dizneyblonde
30-01-2013, 07:15 AM
We will be around then depending on what's decided.
We already have plans but can move things.

Wendy
30-01-2013, 09:42 AM
Shall we go to Ohanas then  it means family and we are a Disney family :D Unless that's too expensive and then we could do the dessert party at MK.

lisaw
30-01-2013, 04:23 PM
More than happy to go to 'Ohana if that suits everyone else :)

Dizneyblonde
30-01-2013, 06:47 PM
We have Ohana planned for the 25th and PH for the 26th but can swp then around.
I someone going to book us all in together?

Johnie
30-01-2013, 06:55 PM
I love Ohana :-)

Mari
30-01-2013, 07:01 PM
We love Ohana too :)

and YES! We are a Disney family!! :hug2:

I am not sure if we can book for so many online? Would we have to call and book us as a group?

How many would we be? 12-14?

How exciting!!!

Johnie
30-01-2013, 07:04 PM
Generally have to call for over 10 people.

Count me in for 2 people.

Wendy
30-01-2013, 07:09 PM
So it sounds like it will be Ohana then :)

I don't mind calling if it is easier and no-one else wants to do it, I assume I just leave a credit card hold

You'll have to tell me what date to call though

Mari
30-01-2013, 07:32 PM
Should we agree on a time?

I think we would have to call before the end of February, Ill check the exact date Wendy :)

Mari
30-01-2013, 07:33 PM
According to Touring Plans, Wishes is on that night at 9:00pm :)

Wendy
30-01-2013, 07:40 PM

 that's true  and provisional numbers for now, I'll double check just before we make the booking.

Mari
30-01-2013, 07:43 PM
Ok... lets see

Mari, 4 :) 2 adults + 2 kids

I think we will be spending that day at MK so to make getting to Ohana easier :)

We are good at anytime, but would prefer after 7:00pm, since it will probably be the girls frist day at MK on that trip

Johnie
30-01-2013, 09:39 PM
I can call since I am in the US.

Wendy
30-01-2013, 10:29 PM
There are 2 of us :D

Wendy
30-01-2013, 10:32 PM
I can call since I am in the US.

All my calls to the US are free Johnie so I don't mind and we have a free phone number to call in the UK for dining reservations.

Johnie
30-01-2013, 10:37 PM
That's awesome! I didn't realize the UK had a free number for dining.

Wendy
30-01-2013, 10:43 PM
That's awesome! I didn't realize the UK had a free number for dining.

I don't think we've had it very long but it seems to be exactly the same service and pre-recorded choice that I get when I call the US number.

Mari
31-01-2013, 02:35 AM
Thats wonderful that you get free calls!! :)

Wendy
31-01-2013, 09:13 AM
Thanks Lisa :)

So far its:

Mari - 2 adults and 2 children
Lisa - 4 adults
Wendy - 2 adults
Johnie - 2 adults
Teresa - 3 adults on DDP

Dizneyblonde
31-01-2013, 05:52 PM
There's 3 of us, all adults and on DDP please

Mari
31-01-2013, 05:55 PM
ok! so 15 so far!!! :wiggle:

Now, what about time???

Im guessing almost everyone will be doing sutff during that day, and tha tmaybe some of our British friends will be jetlagged or still adjusting so wouldnt want it to be too late in the evening, so... what time frame works for most?

Wendy
31-01-2013, 06:03 PM
We won't be jet lagged Mari, we never are when we go over, it affects us more when we come home, so don't worry about us. We can make anytime so it's not a problem :)

Thanks Teresa, I'll make a note of that.

Dizneyblonde
31-01-2013, 06:46 PM
We are at a waterpark that day so will go back to OKW late afternoon to change.

We won't be jet lagged either as we will have been there over a week.

lisaw
31-01-2013, 06:50 PM
Anytime works for us, Mari you have young children so what time would be best for you?

I won't be jet lagged, might be a bit depressed because we will only have a few days left though!

Mari
31-01-2013, 06:55 PM
Super!! :)

Disney will be 1 hour ahead of us, so we could really do anytime, maybe somewhere around 7:30-8:00 so we are there for Wishes which is at 9?

I guess it will also depend on when they can accomodate us...

what do you think?

Johnie
31-01-2013, 06:59 PM
I can do anytime

Dizneyblonde
31-01-2013, 08:08 PM
That time is good for us although Im not sure we would be finished to watch wishes on the beach.
If we have a table in the window it would be amazing though.

Mari
31-01-2013, 08:13 PM
What about 7:00 ? That way if we get a good table we can stay for Wishes, if we dont, we should have enough time to walk to the beach, wouldnt we?

lisaw
31-01-2013, 09:07 PM
That sounds great!

Dizneyblonde
31-01-2013, 09:09 PM
Perfect!

Does it fit in with anyone's 10 days onsite benefit so we don't have to wait until exactly 180 days out?

Wendy
31-01-2013, 09:16 PM
I'm staying off site :sorry:

Dizneyblonde
31-01-2013, 09:26 PM
Our first 10 days will only take us up to 24th August so I'd have to wait til 180 days to book it.

I'm sure we will be fine at 7pm though.

Johnie
31-01-2013, 09:40 PM
I don't even know where I'm staying it who is going with me! Lol

lisaw
31-01-2013, 09:41 PM
No not in my first 10 days either.

Mari
01-02-2013, 06:20 PM
It does fit in my first 10 days

Johnie, would you mind calling with my info to make the adr? Well, that ADR and BBB hahahahahaha :rotfl: and possibly the pirates cruise too! ;)

Mari
01-02-2013, 06:31 PM
ok. I have a question, we it being such a big table... I see some will be on the dining plan, and some wont. I remember reading that everyone on the reservation HAS to be on the same diding plan, is that correct? Does it apply to large groups too?

Johnie
01-02-2013, 06:57 PM
No problem I can call. Not everyone eating together has to be on the same plan.

As far as I know, we would just say at the desk that some had to drop out. The CC hold is just to make sure that we arrive, we pay on the night.

We've done that before when someone couldn't come because they were ill and we didnt have a problem at all.

It would be nice if you could join us :D

Okay add me to the list. It will only be me as although my hubby and kids enjoy disney I am afraid the idea of spending the evening with to them people who are strangers isn't something they would be comfortable with. :-)

Sorry guys we have been looking at plans today and have decided to stick to our original ADR list as it fits in better with our plans but we'd love to come and meet you after to watch wishes if that's ok?

Wendy
03-02-2013, 06:43 PM
Oh that's a shame, I think the plan was to try for a window table and if we didn't get one then we would go to the beach

Johnie
03-02-2013, 06:58 PM
The problem is that we may not be seated at our ADR time and we may not be able to get out to the beach in time for Wishes

Wendy
03-02-2013, 08:11 PM
Johnie, would we stand more chance of getting a window table if we say that it's for a celebration  if we might then say we are celebrating a 25th Wedding Anniversary. It's not 100% true because it's not until the 3rd September but it is an Anniversary holiday :D

Johnie
04-02-2013, 01:02 AM
Every large group I've ever been with has been seated adjacent to the fire pit. Some of the table can see out the window for the fireworks. It's not a perfect view by any means

Mari
04-02-2013, 02:51 PM
We could try a 6:30 adr so that hopefully by 7 we will be seated :)
