There has been lots of rumours and nuggets of information about Disney's new FastPass+ but it seems as though Disney are moving forward with the next round of testing.
Over the next couple months Disney will be testing enhancements to the Disney FastPass service at Walt Disney. The test, will allow a small number of Guests to make Disney FastPass+ selections for some of their favorite experiences at Magic Kingdom before they even leave home.
During this test period, selected Guests who are registered to use Disney’s Magical Express service will be offered the opportunity to go online to pre-select four Disney FastPass+ experiences at the Magic Kingdom.
It sounds like this will be a random selection process and Guests eligible for this test will be notified via email to the address provided during the booking process.
So if you have a trip planned in the next couple of months and you receive an email offering you the chance to take part, please come and tell us all about it.

Do you use the Magical Express from the airport??
The way I read it, is that if you use ME to get to Disney then the computer just might select you to participate.

my thinking was like the luggage tags etc they may not want to shell out the extra postage to the UK, i guess we'll see. Would be great though if one of us was able to do it. We are getting Magical express

I'm in the US but don't use Magical Express so that leaves me out of it entirely.

Some more information is beginning to surface, the first scheduled test dates are the 18th - 24th September.
Disney are sending out emails with a Reservation ID, you can then make your selections and the fastpass + will be sent to you in the mail.
This means that it will only be available for people who live in the USA.

It's a special number than you receive in the email.
This is what an email will look like.

I wonder if long term it will only be available to US guests? I don't like the idea anyway but I know some will

It will be even more unpopular if it is just for US Guests, I can't see that happening though.
It sounds like the new app, My Disney Experience will be used eventually for making reservations, fastpasses etc. There are lots more additions to come over the next year, so I think you'll probably find all you need to do is to use scan your phone at one of the new posts at the turnstiles and it will read the information.
I think this is why Disney is making wifi available at all the Parks, it's because they need it for the new services to work.

I love technology. But there are at least 2 problems with this
1. The battery life on my iPhone sucks. Well in normal life it's find. At Disney I am out of battery life my mid afternoon. I don't even use any of my WDW apps while there
2. Some people actually like to unplug and get away while on vacation

The battery on my Droid Razr is the same way. Wonder if Disney will start providing plug ins.
