The poor boy. I do hope that he recovers fully.

I caught just the end of a news report about this. The boy is in critical condition (if I heard correctly) and was found on the bottom of the pool by his cousin who pulled him out of the water.

Nothing about life guards or the time of day it happened, but again I only heard a bit of it. If there is anything else on the news, I'll let you know.

Here is a bit on it. Not sure of the time, as stated in the article. The Life Guards were reportedly off duty. I think that would make it 10:00 pm.

Let's hope the child survives. Being transferred to Florida South means he needed more intensive trauma care than was available at Florida Hospital Celebration.

Of course this is terrible, and my prayers are with the family...but does anyone else find it a bit odd? The resort pools are not that deep and a 13 year old would be nearly tall enough to stand in most parts. Makes me wonder if something else is also going on.

What a tragedy :-(

It is possible to drown in just a teaspoon of water. Unlikely but possible. I would not be surprised to hear this child had an underlying condition (that he probably didn't even know about).

This is basically what I was getting at. It's certainly possible he just drowned, but with an older child/teenager it is certainly less likely without some other factor.

Horrible, isn't it? Herself told me on my way home for work yesterday. There are still not many details about how the boy ended up at the bottom of the pool. It's a terrible tragedy.

Was just wondering if you'd heard anything more about this story? So tragic. On vacation, no less. My heart breaks for the family.

I read yesterday that they are doing an autopsy.

I can't even fathom losing a child. My heart just breaks for the family.

Very little information on this entire tragedy. An autopsy would be required in this case, I would hope. If the results are made public, that may help dispel the many rumors.

I would think if the child dived into the pool and broke his neck, that would have been said up front. The pools are generally shallow, and not meant for diving.

Regardless of the cause, it's a hideous thing to have happen.

Yes, and you would have thought that would have been noticed right away...

Do we know which pool it was? The quiet pool or the main one?

No, but I do think it was one of the main ones. That's only because they were showing it on the television.
