My iPad cover is looking decidedly tatty of late so I'm about to buy a replacement. Thing is, do I go for another cover or do I go for the case? With the case, is the cover part detachable or does it stay put? Thoughts?

not sure which ipad you have but they do these for 2 and 3 that i know of. I really like mine and it acts as a protector and a reliable stand. I have it in pink

I think it kinda depends on your use of it.

I dont want to add any more bulk to the ipad but I do want to protect the screen so I go for one of the apple covers.

Both my mother and sister prefer cases as they offer more protection and tbh, there's more choice of style

I tend to find the cases just add too much bulk

I prefer the cover but only for basic utility reasons...I am ALWAYS on it. And 95% of my usage is hands free - I'm either watching TV on it, reading, or using it as a recipe book. So I use the fold back stand feature of the magnetic cover A LOT. I find the cases too bulky for my use. Having said that, I do have the "snap on" cover for the back of it as well - just for protection.

Thanks all. The iPad doesn't venture out of Owen's bedroom but of late I've worried about it sliding off the bed and wondered if I should be considering the case. Having said that Owen uses it lying in bed so the case might make it too bulky for him to hold (he rests it on his chest holding it in one hand). I might have to just get another cover that he can take off.

I swear by the Otterbox Defender case for my iPhone! It gives the phone weight that I need so I won't sling it everywhere! I can see where that would be far too heavy for the iPad though.

I tried the otterbox with each of my iPhones, and every time I ended up taking it off because I couldn't stand the "bulk" it added. However, it's an absolute mandate for Baleigh's phone. She's not allowed to take it out!

Lol same with Alysia!

I like the bulk. I know. I'm weird.

HAHAHA, not weird at all, it just comes down to preference, Jon likes the bulk, too :)

Baleigh has no choice. That girl is a nightmare with phones.

Lol so is Alysia. That's why when I gave her my 4, I made her practically give me a blood oath that she'd keep the otter box on

Are you pleased with it? Do you find it bulky?

It's prob 3/4 inch but I kind it easier to hold on to than a smooth Ipad so far no regrets only thing is if you want a screen protector that's extra

Good to know! I like that "waterproof" bit...I'm never without coffee, tea or water...so this may save me a fortune in the end...

Care to share where you purchased it?
