I had a few problems with the photobook this year, Disney sent me someone else's book :rolleyes2: It took from November until now to sort this out, they had to reinstate my photos so I could remake the book and it took ages to do because they included all the photos for the last 3 years!

Anyway this morning in the post I have received a customs request for 17.48 for the photobook! I have never, in all the years of ordering the photobooks or cds had to pay customs before.

To be honest I am in two minds whether to collect it or not, I am so angry with Disney right now, the book that was wrong was delivered with no extra customs to pay.

Has anyone else had this problem with the photo cd or photobook?

Oh no Wendy that's really not good!! This is one of the reasons I'm thinking about getting the photopass+.

it seems to me that lots of people have problems, their software is dreadful and it takes ages to edit all your photos. They need to really sort this out. I think you'd still have to pay if you didn't pick it up Wendy as the company has already paid it on your behalf, could be wrong though. I did hear that customs is trying to catch as many parcels as possible for extra revenue at the moment- that's perhaps why you have been caught out this time

I had no problems with the CD Sue, that came through the post normally and you don't get the book with the photo+ so you should be fine.

I've just got into the habit of getting a book as well, I still have one pre-paid on my account, I think I might just get the book made up at home in future instead.

I had this problem when I ordered some Imagination Movers CDs. If the value of what is being posted is over 15 you automatically get charged the customs fee, so it depends what they put as the value on the parcel.
It's made me wonder though, what do they put as the value?

We've had it before from a courier and they have to include the cost of shipping so you have to pay import duty on the shipping charges too

I've had to pay import duty/VAT on other things I have bought, but never on a photobook and looking at the calculator I should have paid 3.08 as there is no duty payable only VAT of 5%.

I spoke to the post office and asked what would happen if I didn't pay the costs and they said it would be returned to the seller and they would claim the costs back from the Tax Office.

So what are you going to do?

So what are you going to do?

I don't know Vikki  I get a book every year, so part of me wants to pay the extra but I'm annoyed and as the old saying goes "I'm cutting off my nose to spite my face!

I'll see what Chris says when he comes home.

Maybe speak to them again and tell them how unhappy you are with their service and see if you can get credit or refund for the duty you are having to pay.
Its crazy how you havent paid it before but this time you have had to.
If you get someone that is unhelpful hang up and try again. :D

Well, the book arrived today and interestingly the custom's label says it's a gift, cost $70.

I think I'm going to appeal this charge with Customs. I know I won't get the extra 8 that the post office charged but it's the principal of the matter.

I can't blame Disney for any of this as they did the best they could

I think you should. What are you going to say?

I have no idea at the moment, I'll print out the form and then have a few rough drafts until I'm happy.
