The Festival of the Lion King will soon be moving to an all-new theatre, bringing the “tribal celebration” home fittingly to the Africa section of the park, where Disney’s Animal Kingdom guests will be able to continue enjoying the show for years to come.

The new “Festival of the Lion King” theatre is set to open in 2014.

Wonder when it's closing and if there will be a gap in the shows while moving locations

I bet if there is it'll be minimal.

Not interested in Avatarland but if it draws the crowds away from the rest of the park then I say go for it. :D

Not a fan of avatar.

However if anyone can get the best out of it it's disney.

Rather they did beastly kingdom instead.

There is a lot of negativity surrounding avatar land. Some justified some not. I think the biggest thing for me is that avatar is starting to already become outdated and forgotten.

I see the logic behind something like star wars land as it has longevity, but don't feel that with avatar. I know there are plans for a further two avatar films but what avatar lacks is characters and a story.

I bet the majority of people who have watched can't remember the lead characters names, I certainly can't.

I just get the feeling that avatar is constraining the imagineers somewhat. Animal kingdom is the perfect example of what Disney can do if they are not constraint to a small theme. Avatar doesn't give (in my opinion) the flexibility the designers need to create something special. It screams out to me as the lazy option.

I can't say I'm an avatar fan, in fact, I've never seen it. However, anything that expands a park and enhances the experience is a good thing as far as I'm concerned.

I am not at all interested in Avatarland. To me, it isn't "Disney" material. I don't understand the relationship between the two at all, and I REALLY don't see how it fits into the Animal Kingdom of all places. (It doesn't really fit in anywhere, to be honest.)
Ever since I first heard about Beastly Kingdom, I have wished they would build it. And it makes so much more sense with the overall theme of Animal Kingdom than Avatarland. Ugh.
And doesn't it say something that the majority of us Mousejunkies think it's a terrible idea? :/

Utterly underwhelmed with the concept of Avatarland. Really can't even stand the name. Oh well, though, good thing we're not all the same.

I wouldn't hold you breath.

At this point there is nothing in the schedule marked down as park related.

Rumour is nothing will be announced that is park related that we don't already know.

I hope that isn't the case.

I enjoyed the movie a lot and thought the special effects were great but with that said I don't think it is worthy of a ride or a whole section of a park. Hopefully the next 2 Avatar movies are incredible and worthy of a section of AK.
