View Full Version : I gave blood today...

..and i've got a haematoma :(

This was my 17th donation and it's never happened before.

The needle really hurt when she put it in and i knew something was wrong as the blood flow kept stopping and starting.I felt really faint when i'd finished giving blood and my vein came up in a huge hard lump.

I still have the lump which is aching like mad and i have pins and needles in my arm and fingers. There's a nice been bruise coming too.

They told me there was nothing i could do except rest so i'm sat on the sofa with the laptop but i feel sooo tired.
They are going to ring tomorrow to make sure i'm ok.

Me too!

Thanks Claire and Lisa.
It hasn't put me off as the lady that sat with me said that my pint of blood was enough to save 12 babies lives as i'm O Negative.

Put some ice on and that will help with the swelling and take some of the pain away sweetie. OR you could try some of that Vodka stuff that Becca is talking about (not that I would know what that was) :D

Ouch....have the pins & needles stopped yet?
Well done you though :hug2:

21-08-2008, 07:21 PM
Pins and needles have stopped and i just took the plaster off to see the damage.

The lump is still aching and it looks like i'll have a bruise to be proud of!

Tea,chocolate and an early night will do the trick.
Not allowed to drink alcohol after donation so it's a good job i had a botle of rose last night
