Someone has just freaked me out by saying they saw snakes slithering across in front of them at disney? tell me this isnt true because I would die on the spot
Trust me. No one on this earth is more afraid of snakes than I, no one. And yes. :( I've seen a couple of snakes at Disney. One was a tiny one quite far ahead of me, so nothing to do but stand away and go into hyper panic and funny breathing.
The other had it's head poked up from the edge of the boardwalk, and I know I entertained people for miles with my response to that one. I STILL will not walk along the edges of the boardwalk for that very reason.
I also saw one at the Vero Beach resort once. :lipwobble:
So yes, you may see one, but I must admit it's really, really rare. Please try not to worry about it, ok? :hug1:

A snake did cross the path right in front of us at AK a couple of years back but it just went on it's way....didn't even look at us.

Well I'm a snake fan, always been fascinated ever since I was young.. .all except the cottonmouth which I saw really go for someone, and keep going, at a show where I was sitting WAAAY too close. So I revised my policy a bit for those evil things
I've seen a few, never in heavily populated areas like Tink has seen them at, but I've seen them when I've crossed over from the swan to the golf course and took shortcuts across the grass there.. and it wasn't small either but then again, it also ran away. I also tried to take a short cut back to the yacht club once (you can see my failing can't you  ) and as I was half way around, the sprinkler system turned on  and apart from getting soaked, I also saw two snakes on the path ahead of me.
All in all, I think if you're really frightened of them, avoid doing what I did, stick to the paths and I can't imagine having any problem at all/
That really is the way most of them go. They are on the move usually and keep moving. I've never seen one just sunning itself. That would totally freak me right out!
Yes. Very good points (although the two I saw were in heavily populated areas) do not go forging your own path! Keep out of heavy underbrush and long grass. I don't honestly even like to walk across large expanses of long grass. I just KNOW they are lurking in there somewhere, but then as I said. I'm a complete freak when it comes to being afraid of snakes. :(

The one we saw was by Everest....can't get more populated than that area  I can actually remember smiling at the snake :p015:
Now, if that had been a spider.........you would have heard me all right but, you wouldn't have seen me for dust!
Oh great. Thanks for the warning. I'll be keeping a hawkeye out now, when I get over there! (Can you believe I've not been to AK to do EE yet)?

Tink....shame on you  I don't do coasters and even I've done it....and I live a little further away than you do :p015:
Yes, I know! It's just that we've been so busy that any time we get to go to WDW we head right for the WS.

Im thinking this depends on how fast you can run v how fast the snake can run
I guess I'm not helping much :hug2:
Saw one at Typhoon Lagoon once. There's lots of shrubby areas there so I guess there are more animals in there than we realise. It just kind of slithered along as I bobbed past on the lazy river.
If you don't like snakes then you need to give Honey I Shrunk The Audience a miss for sure.
My body responds without thinking. It is the ONLY time you'll see this broken down wreck move at the speed of light. I just dash off in the opposite direction!
I always close my eyes at that bit Dawn! :lipwobble:

Speaking of which, I've seen a rat twice now at WDW. :( Once walking across the path in WS! A woman totally freaked. Another time it was in the gorilla habitat. UGH.
Also saw one in a bar in Old Town. Don't go in those places anymore I can tell you.

Tink I've seen a snake at our favourite resort BC. It was asleep on a little square of concrete along the walkway by the quiet pool, on the way to Epcot. I'm not scared of snakes, (met quite a few in my life ) I find them quite fascinating, spiders I will never kill but don't really like them, I think they get a bad press. Rats are dirty creatures but I love mice. Hate flies uugh, will kill them as quick as I can.
The little one I saw was on the hill just below the BC (heading toward EPCOT's IG).
Rats and mice are dirty things for the most part. :( I do like those little deer mice that live outdoors though. Wicked cute. One got in my cellar one year during the winter. I fed it all winter long. :spring: It was quite well behaved and didn't chew up anything important.

I totally agree with your hatred of rats Piglet BUT, I saw a programme on the tv recently which actually stated that rats were in fact very clean animals, always preening themselves etc.
They do carry loads of "nasties" harmful to us humans though.
That's the "dirty" bit that I think we are both referring to, Slowhand. The icky stuff that they (and their fleas) carry. :(
