Wow apparently the last couple of days there have been illuminations shows at epcot without any fireworks. Concerns over the weather.
I cant even imagine what that would look like :/
Just lights and music huh? Interesting...

worth missing then me thinks
Seems a fairly reasonable compromise when safety is an issue.
The wind that accompanies a tropical storm or hurricane could send a spark into the crowd or somewhere else that could start a fire.
Definitely not what you want to see when visiting WDW, but sometimes the safety of all has precedence.
Hmmmm, the wind hasn't been all that strong at all until today. I've been there when the wind was a major factor. It's always an insider tip when determining where to view the show. Never stand down wind.
I hope this isn't a portent of things to come. Disney has a growing reputation of doing unpleasant things under the guise of something that sounds much more reasonable.

I know what you mean.... must be quite a money saver each time they don't do the fireworks
I know I heard fireworks once this week at least. Must have been Wishes then.
I wonder why they'd have them one place and not the other.
It has to be a huge savings not to set off all those fireworks. I used to know how many it was, but have since forgotten.
Extra credit to whomever can find out!

When we took the KTTK tour, our guide told it is cost ONE MILLION dollars per night to put on Illuminations. That is what he said, I swear.
Oh good heavens! Can you imagine!

 no I cannot. This would explain why everything is so expensive. Though everything is more expensive at DL.
It seemed as though, didn't it?
Did you like California Adventure?

We did! We liked California Adventure much more. I think that's because there was so much room and actually places to sit down. Alysia's fave treat at WDW is the strawberry bars. They are $2.50 in WDW. They are $3.75 at DL :(
I rather liked CA a bit better too. Herself didn't though, as she doesn't do any sort of fast moving ride (serious motion sickness). She felt as though all she did was stand around all day.
I found their food selections pretty boring too. I was so tired of sourdough bread at the end of that vacation!

What a shame, imagine you were only go to disney once and you had planned to watch the fireworks and when you get there to your surprise no fireworks.
Especially if you had children. :uhh:
Tink, could the weather have made the World Showcase lagoon choppy so it wouldn't be safe for the fireworks barges? I remember being told that it does happen occasionally. That was back in 2003.
In theory, but unless there was a LOT more wind there than here, I didn't see it.
