The DCL paperwork has just arrived via FedEx for our 7 day cruise departing on Sept 27th. :smiley4::sigs-tv-003::bounce009::sigs-cartoon-005::sigs-tv-010:
Does it show that I`m a tad excited now that this is the last bit of paperwork I need for our trip?

It sure does Keith.
I only wish that DCL would send them out a bit earlier though.

Are you cruising on the Magic?

Yep. It`s the 7 day "Alternate" Western Cruise [our favourite among the Caribbean DCL cruises] which makes two visits to Castaway Cay. :smiley4:

Thanks for the offer Dan but we don`t start the cruise until Sept.27th although we fly out on the 19th.
Don`t let them rush the shiny new paint job, but if the ship is still in dock by say the 25th then by all means chivvy them along.

Well as of this morning (Monday) the Magic is still high and dry. You are going to have a bright and shiney boat when she gets there! I will let you know when she leaves. Hopefully I will be able to get out to get a picture of her sailing to FL.

Just make sure that she leaves in good time to make it to Port Canaveral on Sept 27th eh?

I hope it works out timing wise. Two years ago I had to run to my car and race down Crawford Parkway to get this shot of her leaving.

You could always charter a helicopter Dan, that would make a really cool photo!

I remember the flight into Barcelona when we were about to go on the DCL Med Cruise last year and I was looking through the window and actually saw the "Magic" in the port waiting for us to arrive [along with several hundred other guests of course!]
It was a lovely clear day but sadly I didn`t have my camera handy and the seat belt signs were on so I didn`t dare retrieve the camera from the overhead locker. :(

Well a sort of rainy day here in Ptown, Virginia. The Magic is still in drydock. They have a netting/coffer dam around the the hull. I guess to contain the overspray. I will let you know when she leaves mate.

Oh, I did see a bunch of CMs in town on Friday. They were windoshopping and looking for a place to eat.

Tink
16-09-2008, 05:18 PM
How did you know they were CMs?

They were all dressed the same, and saw a name tag on a girl's handbag. Looked like the dcl logo. They were all wearing black pants and black shirts. There was a gaggle of them (six maybe 7)

Tink
16-09-2008, 05:27 PM
 Just wondering. I would have thought that DCL wouldn't want their crew to be wearing uniforms in public (off the ship, I mean). But perhaps they all have causal uniforms that are allowed?

Watchinherskip
16-09-2008, 05:31 PM
Just black pants, and shirts. Nothing actually said DCL on it. (had to look really carefully to find the logo on the bag). They appeared to be in a bit of a hurry. They passed on the Chinese place near the museum. GOOD plan that was....not a great place for Chinese.

You mean to say that none of them had huge black furry ears Dan?

We leave for Florida on Friday 19th so :fingers: that the paint dries in time for the 27th.
Thanks for the up-date.

 So sorry, I was totally off base with the CM's. I saw another person dressed in the black pants, black shirt and got a better look at the logo, I need new glasses! A downtown hotel has just changed ownership and their staff got new uniforms.! Feel so sheepish:goat2:Ok...so it's a goat, but close enough..guess I am the goat. Anyhow assumptions are terrible things. The workers were multi-national (Sounded like Russian, Ukranian or maybe Polish) and I put the 2 + 2 and well....at any rate Disney should look the the logo for copyright infringement...well to blind people like me:lol:

Latest on the boat, still in drydock, launches/life boats still not returned to the ship so I guess it has a day or two to go.

Well Terry, the folks at BAE are doing their best to make sure the boat is spic and span and ready to take you on the cruise of a lifetime. Still on drydock, but I imagine it will be getting under weigh soon enough.

We're 24 days out from the cruise, no docs, booked with DVC points. Should I have any docs? And if so, when is the latest they arrive?

According to something I read somewhere (how's that for precision?), drydock/renovations are scheduled through the 24th. The ship probably will arrive at Port Canaveral just in time for your cruise, Slowhand!

Have a safe journey and an absolutely magical holiday! :)

I wouldn`t panic just yet. Our docs arrived on Sept 1st for our cruise departing on the 27th.
I`d give it a few days and then send DCL an email just to put your mind at rest.
I`ve always found that they do respond very quickly to emails.

That's better than when we cruised. They were doing maitenance while we were on it. They were closing down pools and painting. They changed our itinerary to two days at Castaway so they could finish painting and repairs. We didn't get to do all we wanted but still enjoyed our first cruise.
