its just like a drive from BG isnt it?
I've never seen BA land at Busch. :eek:
The rodeway laws have changed, Mick. The semis are not restricted to the right two lanes which makes for some really scary driving experiences. The semis are cutting in and out of the lanes, and the far left lane is moving at 90 mph plus, easy. NOT a pleasant experience. :sigh;
I've flown into and out of Tampa before, but just for in Florida flights. Not that bad a place as I recall, but it's only been a layover/change planes sort of thing for me, never had to drive to the airport.
If the cost were significantly less, I'd fly in there, particularly if the flight were to arrive in the evening when rush hour traffic had passed.

I have, airport is fine, it is the drive to Orlando, took us for ever and we were traveling in the afternoon, bumper to bumper.

Not sure of traffic tbh. Flight lands at 5.45pm. Allowing for immigration etc we could be out by 7pm. Hopefully traffic will have subsided.
Not much. Tampa is much more crowded than Orlando. As GrammiePo says, it can be bumper to bumper for miles and miles. Plus, if there is an accident on I4 you are standing still as there is no alternate. :sigh;
However, if the ticket prices were that much lower, I'd sure give it a try. :yes:

Since I had lived near/in Tampa, I have flown in and out of the airport. I think it's a nice airport. And I4 can be brutal, but I needed to drive it, then I would avoid rush hour times (ie no early morning hours and then no time between 4-6 pm). :D And yes, expect to drive fast to keep up with everyone else.

I've never tried it but we got lost on our way back from BG one day and it was very very gairy. It was literally like a scary film. Dad went into the garage and I half expected him to come out with a knife in his back. It was deserted, and to be honest I think we wheren't even in tampa anymore.

The price to Tampa is good and better than flying into Orlando. Trying to avoid an indirect flight again for next year. Might just wait till about 6 weeks out and try again for Orlando. How about Miami? Flew into Miami back in 1988 but it helped that most of the holiday was in the Keys.
Miami is a much longer drive to Orlando, as you know. I would stick with Tampa if those were your choices. :yes:
Just have a good route mapped out for getting out of the airport to Orlando, and recognize that you may be delayed by traffic. If you know what to expect, and plan for the worst, then when it doesn't happen, you're thrilled! :yes:
