We had our hearts set on staying at the Hampton until i realised it has no in room safes.
I checked the Fairfield (our second choice) to find they don't have them there either.
However they do both have saftey deposit boxes for guests.
Can someone tell me how these work, are they safe and are they as accessible as an in room safe would be?(the kids like to keep their $ in there but count it every night!!!)

No i haven't yet.
On most hotel websites it says there is ne in the room.
On these two it says safe deposit boxes at front desk.
I have also read a review about the Hampton that says it doesn't have them :(

If anything I would have thought that safety deposit boxes were a lot safer than actually having a safe in your room.
At most hotels that I`ve stayed at where they had boxes, they were usually located in the reception area behind the front desk so that there was always someone "on guard" so to speak.

So i shouldn't let it stop me from staying there then?
Are the boxes attached to the wall or do they just keep them behind reception?
Do i get the only key or do they open it for me?
Sorry for all the q's but we really want to stay at one of them and i have to have somewhere to keep the money, tickets, passports and cameras safe.

I dunno about that particular hotel but the ones I`ve seen have either been fixed to the wall behind the reception or alternatively they are out of sight and you are given your box after they have asked you a security question.
