Can you hear the silence in my house? :D

The boy went back to school this morning after 7 weeks. It's so quiet. I'm just laying on the sofa with Park Hopper Radio playing softly in the background.

I'll be bored senseless by Wednesday though.

I love the peace and quiet - I've done an hour on the Wii Fit without anyone mocking me

I'm loving the fact that I can watch mind numbing Car Booty under the Open House Hammer in the Attic instead of mind numbing Cartoon Network!

The dog is loving it too. She can sleep peacefully without fear of a suprise offensive against her.

I have a photo of Steven in his new uniform - will post it later. I have some Nick Jr to watch before he gets home and puts Cartoon Network on again. :D

Did the news story about the father and son, who were swept out to sea, appear on UK news?

A father and 12/13 (both have been said) autistic son were swimming off the east coast of Florida (near Ponce Inlet) when the boy got too far out. The Dad went after him and they were both swept off in a strong current. They were found ALIVE 8 miles out to sea, and one mile apart after approximately 16 hours in the ocean.

Absolutely amazing.

They had been treading water for all that time. I can't imagine how terrified the Dad must have been when he was separated from the boy, nor how frightened the boy must have been!

Sheer force of will. Unbelievable that they had the energy to keep treading water hour after hour.

Well I was shattered after 90 minutes in a swimming pool with Steven yesterday so 8 hours in the sea is mind blowing.

Tink

It was more like 16 hours. And the sea was particulary rough this weekend. We were at Coca Beach and the red flag was up. That is why they were swept out in the first place, the roughness and the strong current. :(

I haven't been able to learn if they were wearing life preservers or not. There was no mention of it, but when they showed the boy on the helicopter he seemed to have one on. That could have been put there by the rescue team though.

T'is ok, I approve of her. She is pretty and intelligent and I helped out in her older brother's class last year so I've grilled him and there is no family scandals hidden anywhere.

Well he's back home and he's decided that he likes year 1. :D

His new teacher is nice and Miss Thorrington popped in to see her old class which Steven said was the best bit of the day.

Now I have to get red felt pen out of a white polo shirt and find out what badgers eat?

Awwww..he is so big these days!! How could you let that happen?? Your kids go away?? To school??? I just can't think of being that kind of parent :( Katelyn would never leave me to do such things :gy:

Anyway it is a good Monday here! Boxes are getting empty and we even have our Kitchen/dining room pretty well set. I'm more relaxed then I have been in a long time. We even went over to see some friends last night and had some fun - woo-hoo!

Oh and good news about Sister-in-law. They told her she didn't need the physical therapy anymore :eek3: She really seems to be a medical miracle. She was having some trouble with her eyes, but now the double vision is gone and she only has a little bit of a depth perception problem. All very good news :p015:
