Had an interesting week so far. Fell down a hill Wednesday, nearly bought Christmas cards yesterday, and I'm off out shortly to bag my 50th cache, and hopefully 6 more after that. :D

I've just been for a stroll to the local shops. The weather here today is fabulous! Clear blue sky, warm sunshine. Perfect autumn day. :)

I'm still waiting to hear the story of the miserable farmer.

Dawn
19-09-2008, 12:41 PM
Farmer Grumpy ignored my cheery "good morning" and just shouted at his dogs to shut up.

Twice this week I've done a 6 mile cache trail with the doggle - I have a heart muscle the size of an elephants. The goldfinch spot was awesome. Also saw 2 dead rabbits and an unidentifiable leg - possibly a fox. But hey, that's the countryside for you. I saw some beautiful calves as well. I know longer eat beef. :D

Sussex is an awesome place for just getting out and walking.

Tink
19-09-2008, 12:45 PM
That's it? No chasing you off his property with a spade, or turning his dogs loose to chase you and Willow, or closing his gate in your face? Just ignoring your hello? Geez, he may have been deef ya' know?

Skywatcher
19-09-2008, 12:51 PM
erm... you do know Dawn owns 1/2 of Sussex don't you Tink - remember Winnie th Poohs forest - that was the Ashdown forest.

She should be chasing him off her land

I'm cold - and that makes me happy!! Fall Fall Fall :excited001: I'm starting to look for pumpkin farms and hay rides! Hooray!

So our old house is up for sale and this one is getting pretty darn settled. I have clothes put away and shelves up in the basement. I'm feeling a bit better and Katelyn is running around in these really cute winter jammies with polar bears on them.

I'm happy

Friday at last, my goodness how I've looked forward to today...Last shopping weekend before Disney (YAY!) Loads to do, pedi/mani, trip to Old Navy for some last minute t-shirts, massive shop at Wal-mart for odds and ends, finish up scrubbing the house, balance the books for our Parent's Association, complete emergency call outreach database...blah blah blah

Andrew's ipod arrived yesterday (WOOHOO!!) everything is as it was ordered...which is a sigh of relief...hope to get a chance during the weekend to add a bit of music to it for him...plan is to give it to him in the airport while he's grumbling about having "nothing to do for the plane ride," and how "all the rest of us have ipods, except him..." :D That's going to be fun.

Meanwhile, I'm sat here REALLY feeling the "REALITY" of the fact that I'm about to have a 16 year old son. Wow. Where did the years go? He's becoming this amazing man, but all I can think of at the moment is that wee little boy of four years who didn't want to go off to preschool....

Dawn
19-09-2008, 01:25 PM

It's breathtaking to watch really...yesterday morning he was at our local grocery store filling out a job application and that night he was bouncing into my bedroom to "crash" on my bed and tell me how "excited he is that we're leaving in less than a week and can he please, please, please get a new set of "ears" for his birthday."

Hormones. Oh goodness. I started to ask everyone to start wearing name tags, then I sorted out they weren't going to be around long enough for it to matter what their names were...

Tink

LOL, Skywalker. Well, the hormones differ just a wee tiny bit, but they both have their respective types. Better?

It's only 11am and I have managed to

1. Call my mom and make her cry. I called her and apologized for being a horrid teenager, doing everything in my life the hard and backwards way (but it's all turned out ok in the end), thanking her being so supportive of me and telling her she couldn't have been a better grandma to Alysia.

2. I've been to the post office & picked up Alysia's Homecoming dress that arrived from Hong Kong and did a couple of errands

3. Come into work (and only 4 messages on my machine!) and called people back

4. I bought my calendar for the exchange

5. I am going to get a pedicure this evening and maybe make our t-shirts for the trip tonight (if not, then tomorrow)

6. I have managed to be all sentimental this week. Alysia got her senior proofs in and I am a mess. This may be a hard year for me.......It has all gone by way too quickly......:(

Beccaberry
19-09-2008, 03:16 PM

Until one day the phone rings and you hear, "Ma? Did I ever tell you thanks..."

Beccaberry
19-09-2008, 05:12 PM
:) Agreed. Totally agreed.

And in the meantime, there are those times like the other day when Andrew came out of a restaurant men's room and noticed a ladies credit card slip out of her purse. He retrieved it, caught up with her and handed it to her...she thanked him and he came back to the table. He never said a word about it. She walked up to our table a few moments later and offered him $10 for his honesty, which he politely turned down. She turned to me and commented what a wonderful young man he was.

I thought I might burst right there in the restaurant.

Sometimes, just watching them "live out" the lessons you've taught them is worth a thousand thank you's....

I don't want to even think about Andrew growing up. He's still that sweet little boy who I used to love to hug and was shorter than me. Alysia cannot possible be old enough to have senior pictures either. I love all three of the kids and I know that I am in for such a shock next year when I see them :sigh;

Well I spent my Friday in Japan! :p

I even had pizza for dinner - but I did have sushi for lunch! ;)

We had a rickshaw ride in the morning, that was so fun - the driver was so nice! Gareth nearly didn't survive being clipped round the ear for his comments about his mother being too heavy to pull!

We went to the Pokemon Centre and then to the Ghibli Museum!

Will tell you more in the trip report!

I am looking forward to meeting Andrew, he does sound like a fine young man! :p015:
