Thomas has always been nuts about coasters and rides - Matthew has always been terrified of anything over and above IASW.

Took them to Chessington yesterday as the weather was good and bribed him sooooooooooooooo much to go on the Runaway mine train.

The lady checked all the lap bars and called down the train

'everyone ok'

al lttle voice piped up

'no, i want to get off' wich we ignored

By the second lap he was sayin 'woohoo' under his breath and by the third lap he had his ahands in the air - when we got off the ride he was saying ' that was the bestest thing ever'

we have told him it is the same as BTM so now he wants to do that very badly

:D that would be a dream come true for me

so I expect it will be in rehab

Isn't it fantastic when they combat a fear! I did BTM for the first time this year and loved it. If I can enjoy it I have ever faith that Matthew will!

Well done Matthew! :2uge4p4:

Edited to correct name of child!!!!

The plan now is to go straight to BTM on the first morning of the first day to break him in straight away :D - My greastest wish is that we will all do Splash together one day - the problem is with Matthew not wanting to ride we end up with on eof us sat outside a ride for an hour at a time - would be great if we could all queue together

Woohoo! Congratulations, Matthew!

With any luck, he'll enjoy BTMRR so much he'll just have to go on Splash Mountain! :D

Great news! Our last trip was the best ever because we could all go on the rides together - luckily Caitlin is adventurous when it comes to rides, we have always put them on rides from a very young age and luckily it has worked out well for us as they both love them all.

All of you together on Splash Mountain will be fantastic! :)

Just drag him on the ride kicking and screaming. Don't worry, no one will point and look and no one will start a thread on a forum saying, "you'll never guess what I saw today."

Take the train to Frontierland and then you can come around to the queue for Splash Mountain without terrifiying him with the sight of the flume. It's really a lovley ride as you know, minus the flume but even I can manage that!

Skywatcher

 he KNOWS about splash mountain there will be no fooling the boy

Tink
29-09-2008, 03:04 PM
Oh, that's a given but there is no need to make it an in your face sort of approach. Splash Mountain is so very much more than the flume!

thats the idea - the thing is he has the image of Lisa coming off Bluto's Bilge barge completely drownified burned in his brain

Tink
29-09-2008, 03:30 PM
Ah well. Having terrorized the child in the past is not so easy to undo in the future, eh?

Splash is nowhere near as "wetting" as Bluto's. (Unless you are me, of course).

Skywatcher

Do you not remeber the whole Harmabe trip report  - Lisa got so wet on Kali River rapids she had to buy a pair of rather lovely tight jogging bottoms with HARAMBE written on the posterior - to this day everytime she bends over I say ' Harambe' in a leslie philips voice :D

Tink
29-09-2008, 03:48 PM

Oh! I never thought of that! Good point, Siobhan.

Can you tell the tale in detail (maybe a copy of that portion of the trip report) for our newer members, Skywatcher?

Makes for good reading! :D

Tink
30-09-2008, 02:17 PM
Thanks for tracking it down! It was fun to read again.

You know, I have a serious confession. :( I can never remember which boy is the elder. Is it Thomas? :sorry:

Skywatcher
30-09-2008, 02:25 PM
Thomas is now 8 and Matthew is charging down on 6

Tink
30-09-2008, 02:26 PM
OK. I'll try to keep it straight!

How can that be though? Eight and six? Surely it can't be that much time gone by? :cry1:

Skywatcher
30-09-2008, 02:36 PM
I know :cry2: apparenly Christmas is coming as well

Dawn
30-09-2008, 02:42 PM
I bought a Christmas present today. :sigh;

Tink, if it helps, Matthew is the one born in the same year as Steven.

Tink
30-09-2008, 03:15 PM
It does. :sigh;

Christmas. :sigh; I've a load to do, and don't even truly know where to start! I've been picking up little things here and there for the children that are coming, and really need to get it all laid out so I can see who has what.

Then there is the food to plan. What does one feed a small army for Christmas dinner?
