Hollywood screen legend Paul Newman has died. He was 83.

He passed away on Friday and no other details have been released. He had been suffering from cancer.

He will be remembered for such films as Butch cassidy and the sundance kid and for his best actor oscar for the Color of money in 1987.

In May 2007, he said he was giving up acting because he could no longer perform to the best of his ability.

He also had one of the longest hollywood marriages to his beloved Joanne Woodward.

He will be sadly missed. What a true legend.

RIP :rose2:

Oh that is so sad. I loved his films, especially his film relationship with Robert Redford. He was such a handsome man and appeared to be very 'normal' for such a big star

His generosity was as wonderful as was his talent for acting. He donated all the royalties/profits from all of his food products; most going to the Whole in the Wall Gang, a charity for terminally ill and critically ill children.

A rare thing in this world, a man of principle and ethics. He was a great favorite of my Mother's.

Becca called me in the room to tell me on Sat night. I was very upset. I just love Paul Newman. He was just awesome.

You know Johnie? It's something you'll always remember; that you were at WDW when you learned of his death. Like us with Princess Diana. We were at WDW, staying at the BC when the news of the accident and losing her came through. I'll never forget it. :(

I was on my honeymoon in Virginia Beach when I heard that Charles Schulz (Peanuts creator) died. I cried and cried.
