Well the pixie dust has certainly softened the blow! The good news is it's the easiest form to treat and she won't need bone marrow.

thanks so much to everyone for their good wishes

sorry ive not been around for a while but have been very tied up with my mum who has quickly worsening dementia
but my sis has taken over all the work with mum for me so im able to devote all my time to mandy and the kids

thanks also to helen for keeping me updated about your good wishes and for the thread.

the problem is mandy has leukemia . she had a blood test last wednesday cause she was getting loads of bruises on her body , counted 27 at one time , and she was getting tired easily .
the blood test was at 11.30 am and at 7 pm same day the GP phoned us at home saying she was booked in for a bone marrow biopsy the next morning at 10 am . they did that and asked her to return friday morning for a blood transfusion ,which took 6 hours as she needed 2 units .
we were then sent home and asked to return the following thursday to see the consultant . we had a 21st party planed for a weeks time for mandys eldest son so we called in the supermarket on the way home to buy in some food for the party . but on leaving the super market i got a phone call saying she must go in NOW as she has leukemia !!:shocked025::shocked025::shocked025::shocked025:
we went home at speed to get things sorted . mandy was falling apart but i was in planning mode . we had to contact social services to see if heather could go in to respite care as i am getting less mobile and am unable to look after her on my own . to make it more dificult i have had my driving licence taken off me cause i have sleep apnea so i called a friend to drive us to the hospital and to where ever heather was going . it was now 5.30 and the hospital called us back 3 times to ask where mandy was but we could not leave home with out knowing where to take heather . eventualy after being told we just had to get in NOW we left home at 8.30 . as we pulled up in the hospital car park we got a call to say heather could go to the place she normally goes for respite so we were quite relieved . off to the ward we go but ...... the lift decided it was time to stop working with us all inside it :sigh;:wall1::wall1:but we were only stuck in for 30 minutes lol
eventualy we got mandy settled in and off to the rispite home heather arrived at 10.30 then home we arrived at 12.30 and my friend who had driven us did not arrive at his home till 1 am friends like that are like gold .:drive2:

ok jump a little time and now we have been told that the type mandy has is called APML and it is the easiest type to treat and has the biggest recovery rate .

at the hospital she now has my lap top so if any of you would like to "chat" to her on face book she would love to hear from you her name is mandy hickling nottingham
please tell her that you are from the disney forum so she can add you .
i too would love to chat to any of you on face book im steve hickling nottingham .

thanks again to all of you for the great wishes
