Tink
05-11-2008, 03:05 AM
I'll bounce with you! I'm all over the 'net trying to keep myself from going around the bend.

I really don't know how much more of this I can take!

At least I'm breathing now. Earlier when Obama was not in the lead, I truly thought I was going to go into cardiac arrest. Total pressure on my chest. Sheesh!

I know it's still early, but I'm feeling a touch more confident.

I'm not feeling confident about 8 and 2 though. :(

My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who saw Ferris pass out at 31 Flavors last night. I guess it's pretty serious.

That is one of my favorite lines in the movie..another...

Ladies and gentlemen, you are such a wonderful crowd, we'd like to play a little tune for you. It's one of my personal favorites and I'd like to dedicate it to a young man who doesn't think he's seen anything good today - Cameron Frye, this one's for you.

Johnie

I love that movie :p015:

I think my favorite 80's teen movie is The Breakfast Club. I swear I could recite the whole thing for you.

Tink

Johnie

Tink
05-11-2008, 03:29 AM
I think I'll continue to pass. Did I watch a movie in the 80's? Was Moonstruck an 80's film or an early 90's? :D

Johnie

WWWHHOOOOOHOOOOO! RICK KELLER BITES THE DUST!!!! That's a FL thing, and I can't tell you how HAPPY I am that he has LOST his senate seat! GO ORANGE COUNTY! :9:

No, Siobhan. :cry1: Florida didn't pass, and although I haven't had an official confirmation CA didn't pass either, which means those marriages between same gender couples which were legal yesterday are now dissolved.

I'm pretty sickened by these and similar losses in other states (AZ, Arkansas). Weary, sick at heart and digusted.

That stinks. Some parts of the USA need to move into the 21st century.

Connecticut has just elected a democrat to the last republican seat! WOW!!! :9:

I'm experiencing this very unfamiliar feeling of pride for the state I live in....it's new to me...but I think I like it.

Our Question 2 was defeated. It was regarding holding a Constitutional Convention (which many realized was a back door to defeating same gendered marriages).

IL went for Obama naturally, but what was interesting is that the county I live in has never ever gone for a demoncratic president never mind senators, reps, etc. and yesterday the county was totally democratic!!

IL also voted NO for a Constitutional Convention which they say would have cost upwards of $80 :rolleyes008:

Do you think that was because he's an Illinois man or just general malaise with being republican?

Do you think that was because he's an Illinois man or just general malaise with being republican?

I think it was pretty much both reasons, although IL usuallly ends up supporting which ever democrate is running anyway. It's still the old Chicago politics that run the state even though they say those days are over now :rolleyes008:

It also seems that from what they were saying on this morning's local news that a larger than normal number of people of color voted yesterday (especially in Chicago) that had never bothered to vote before.

So... if Obama made a law about same gender marriages, that would only be relevant in the states that are democratic?
Say if the head of a state was republican and didn't agree with same gender marriages, would they not count in that state? :(
That's sad. People need to move into the 21st century

Dawn
05-11-2008, 04:09 PM
It's state by state Josh. Each state has its own congress and governor who decide specific laws for that state. There is no federal law on same sex unions.

I don't think so Dawn...I imagine 4 years of grooming and prepping. I found it very troubling to think that she with a journalism degree, could not answer a simple question about what newspapers she read to get information....not even one was named...

I predict in four years time a new and improved Sarah Palin will be prepped.

I dunno Dan...I think I disagree. I think she had her shot...and for whatever it was that she was earmarked for, she didn't deliver. I think she will continue to be a strong influence in Alaska, but I think her bid for the Presidency/Vice Presidency is history. I don't think we'll see her in the "big leagues" again.

Of course...only time will tell :D
