Does anyone remember a few weeks back I was asking for advice about filling in a job application for a position in a local school?

I've just found a message on my answerphone from the Deputy Head asking me to contact him tomorrow to discuss my application. :unsure:

Is that the one where we did all the glittery sparkly colouring round the edges?... cos if it was I think that just might have swung it for you?

Well...they liked my application but I didn't make the shortlist for interview. :unsure:

But they wanted to know if I'd be interested in doing supply work. I can't because I need to know what days I'm working in advance to arrange for Steven to be in the after-school club.

:sigh;

Sorry Dawn, but really encouraging that they called. Hopefully they will keep you in mind if another job becomes available,with more certain hours.

The guy was completely upfront with me - said they thought I would do well in the job but they do recruit mainly from their supply staff. So I do appreciate his honesty.

Still I'm on supply at Steven's school so you never know.

You could do that very well and it's a foot in the door to start :p015:

I could do it but I don't really want to do it. I want to work directly with the kids, not spend all day in a kitchen. Keep looking, we're not desparate yet.

I'm sure you'll find something more appropriate soon.

Although, Leu began working in the kitchen at her children's elementary school and has turned down several promotions. They tried to tempt her into the district food service manager position a couple of times. She just doesn't want to work full-time. :shrug:

Dawn, have you tried contacting your local senior schools? I have just got a job invigilating GCSE, A level and mock exams. Heard about it by way of mouth, applied last week and done two this week. Apparently rules have changed and teachers are not allowed to do it anymore, other than one to start/finish.. (they should spending their time teaching). You work when you can and rate of pay in our area is 7.50 per hour. It is fairly boring during the exam time and takes about an hour afterwards to do the admin of the exam papers.

Just an idea :)

Something perfect will come up :p015:

I work on a casual basis at a special needs school in the kitchen when needed, I do get quite a lot of interaction with the kids, well more than enough for me anyway :lol:

Shame you don't live here we need a TA and you'd be perfect.
Exam invigilation is a good idea too.My Dad does it and gets loads of work.
