Opinions on blu-ray players please?

Does anyone have one?
Is it worth buying one yet?
If so, are the cheaper ones any good?

Thank you. :)

I looked for ages last christmas and in the end decided that a playstation 3, even if only used for blu-ray playback, was best value (things may have moved on since!)

The problem was that as fast as I found a player that would sit under the tv and work, I'd find a review that pointed out a fault with it.

The ps3, whilst it had reviews pointing out flaws, was and is getting continually updated over the internet! so things keep being fixed and updated!

Ive been very happy with it! I bought the optional remote control for it too so it sits under the tv like any dvd player would and works great :D

Did the same as Keith.
A blue-ray player was the same price as the PS3 so we got the PS3 & remote control. Great pictures on blue-ray.

Thanks. :)

DH said he thought that the PS3 was noisy whilst running. Do either of you find that?

Never noticed it being noisey. May be you need to turn the sound up on the TV. :D

We haven't got one, but when I spoke to Chris last night, he said he'd buy a PS3 as well.

That's what DS has too, but I think they're too expensive for me and I only need something to watch films on. :)

Ahh I see :D

There's no point in us getting anything like that yet as we don't have a HD telly and Chris said we won't get the full benefit until we do  well I think that's what he said
