taxi or towncar?

From the airport it looks as if towncars arent really much more expensive than taxis but does it make sense to call them and book for going to the mall and trips like that or is that where using a taxi saves money

Can we use any taxi company or does disney only allow one

Weve found taxis cheaper than towncars and its better if we dont know what time we'll be finished shopping
