Remember that job application we all filled in and decorated for me a couple of weeks back?

Well I stopped by the office today to ask the head teacher about something I'm helping them with and she says she wants to speak to me tomorrow about "that job."

Or maybe she just wants to give me the cleaning bill.

And and and and

I did my first lunch shift with a reception class today. They don't go out to play but their lunch helper reads them a story instead - never had to do that for 30 children before. It was awesome!!! I had so much fun. I read them a story about lucky yellow underpants. :point:

Fingers and toes all crossed that they have come to their senses and now realize that you are the one and only choice they could possibly make for the job :thumbsup:

And if not, well underpants come in all sorts of other colors so you'll just have read through the spectrum and have fun with the kids till something else comes along

I''m sitting on the mat quietly....................

Well I sit in the big teacher's chair and the whole class sit on the carpet in front of me and whoever does the best sitting gets to go over to the book corner and choose a story for me to read to the class.

The book corner is next to the art cupboard. Could you resist the lure of the crayons..?

Telling stories to a whole class of 30 children is no laughing matter. They all look at you expectantly.

Dawn

Sadly I'm not good at voices. I read with expression but voices are not my strong point. I think my audience were happy though; they laughed in all the right places.

If i had a school i'd like you to read stories every day :D

I only read to KS1. Once they get to year 3 I make them work.

Although I remember one session with year 3 where I was playing Connect 4 with some of them and they all beat me and I wasn't letting them win. :sigh:

Just wanted to say i've got my fingers crossed for you Dawn,i think i sent you a good luck message on f/book but thought i'd add it here as well. The best thing ever working with kids and if they stop biting you its a bonus(can you tell i've had a good couple of weeks!)Personally for me its the fact of the holidays off and getting paid in the summer thats another bonus but i'm sure they have you earmarked already as future staff!

OK right now we're cautiously optimistic.

Had a quick word and it's not the job I applied for. They are looking for someone to give reading support to year 3 children who are struggling. They want someone who loves books and reading and I'm at the top of the list. That's all I know right now but the head referred to it as a "job" and not "helping." She wants to speak later in the week regarding hours and stuff.

You'll have to negotiate a licensing agreement. Perhaps Keith could draw up the contract to protect your interests?
