Loving your avant garde tree young Steven  :xmastree6:

Liking the hippo very much :hippo:

Even more, loving the sighting of Mousetrap on the shelves behind...want to play...:HamsterDance:

***Deb discovers that this forum seems to have an inordinate number of hippo smilies (only the International Hippo Rescue Society Forum has maybe has more) and ponders that of course this can''t possibly have anything to do with Dawn***

HEY! This really could work! :D :D :D

The trees look wonderful! Sadly, I cannot post a picture of my tree, but it's about 7' to 8' feet tall (we have a large living room) filled with decorations (most are yes, Disney).

But, anyways, those trees look great!

Your welcome. I don't think we've ever had a tree under 5 feet before. Our living room ceiling is quite large. It's about 18 feet (literally). So, we try for big trees! :)

Mairead, turn every light off in the room, disable the flash and just use the lights on tree. Oooh, lots of lovely trees! They're all gorgeous!

I sort of did mine today, but it's not totally finished  It's about 10 - 11 feet tall and as OH left the stepladders elsewhere I can't reach to put a proper tree topper on or to rearrange the abundance of tinsel near the top - I managed to throw things "Steven Style" at the top without falling off the chair but it needs fine tuning when the ladders arrive:shrug: You'll also notice that the bottom bit is a bit sparse in the light and decoration department - we're not sure how new cat Lola is going to be with it so am keeping harmful things from the bottom for at least a few days to see how she handles it. She's not really lived in a house before so I'm not sure she knows what it is :) She did enjoy helping to put things on it though! An the last pic has a little orb thing on it but I wanted to show her posing on the hearth :D

I seriously love your house. :D

did it say in your personality test that you were type A? :ROFL1:

lisaw
07-12-2008, 07:27 PM
Yes that part was accurate :taunt:

Edited to add: From wikipedia

Type A individuals can be described as impatient, excessively time-conscious, insecure about their status, highly competitive, hostile and aggressive, and incapable of relaxation. [1] They are often high achieving workaholics who multi-task, drive themselves with deadlines, and are unhappy about the smallest of delays. Because of these characteristics, Type A individuals are often described as "stress junkies."

OMG that is me completely! I now know I need help

Ok...here's my downstairs tree...it's quite small...only 4 feet...but we call it, "A few of our favorite things" tree...each year we purchase (or make) an ornament that represents something that is a favorite of ours...

The tree

http://i341.photobucket.com/albums/o368/beccaberry73/DSCN0186.jpg

Our ornaments for this year...

Mine (Kohl's had the *cutest* martini shaker, but we're all out by the time I got there, BOO!)

http://i341.photobucket.com/albums/o368/beccaberry73/DSCN0198.jpg

Jon's (Bless him, hope springs eternal, I s'pose  )

http://i341.photobucket.com/albums/o368/beccaberry73/DSCN0201.jpg

Baleigh's (Oh! To watch your children discover "the classics" :D )

http://i341.photobucket.com/albums/o368/beccaberry73/DSCN0191.jpg

And Andrew's (...and then there are those timeless treasures...you should hear them talk!)

http://i341.photobucket.com/albums/o368/beccaberry73/DSCN0200.jpg

Ok, I'm off to see if there's any snow left...perhaps I'll have a chance to post a few shots of the "big" tree when I return!

I don't think we are putting the tree up this year. We've been gone every weekend it seems and I still cannot figure out how to keep the cats away from the tree. Well, except Cutie Pie, that is only because the tree attacked him when he was a kitten.....that's his story anyway

Here is a picture of our tree this Christmas. It is a prelit artificial tree (DW is alergic to living trees and I am alergic to picking up dead needles). We have many wonderful ornaments from friends and family (a few from over the years in Disney ornament exchanges too). Some of our favorite are hand made, the Disney Dough ornaments we made back in 1969 as a gift to our first students (one remains from the lot...dopey) - some of our students thought they were cookies and tried to eat them.

The japaneese one was supposedly hand made by nuns some where in Japan..who knew (gift from my favorite aunt - God rest her soul)

Some of the Mickey ornaments from last trip

My kayak ornament

My exchange ornament from last year (mickey snowglobe one)

The sorcerer's apprentice hat

Too many to pick, we love our tree.

Thank you all, you should see us putting up the tree, we can't just put up the ornaments without a "do you remember" story to go with it..and the order is important too...the red Japaneese one always has to go up first.

Sarah..you bet, it is on my list. My SIL lives in Louisville near Boulder. I have a few rivers I would love to run, but hard to get my boat out there as we fly out. Want to run the Blue in Breckenridge, Clear Creek in Golden, and Boulder Creek in town...too old to be an adrenaline junky...stick to class III - IV.

Last photo..promise....forgot to include this from description. We bought the little red Mickey Christmas balls last year at WDW

Ok...here's my downstairs tree...it's quite small...only 4 feet...but we call it, "A few of our favorite things" tree...each year we purchase (or make) an ornament that represents something that is a favorite of ours...

The tree

http://i341.photobucket.com/albums/o368/beccaberry73/DSCN0186.jpg

Our ornaments for this year...

Mine (Kohl's had the *cutest* martini shaker, but we're all out by the time I got there, BOO!)

http://i341.photobucket.com/albums/o368/beccaberry73/DSCN0198.jpg

Jon's (Bless him, hope springs eternal, I s'pose  )

http://i341.photobucket.com/albums/o368/beccaberry73/DSCN0201.jpg

Baleigh's (Oh! To watch your children discover "the classics" :D )

http://i341.photobucket.com/albums/o368/beccaberry73/DSCN0191.jpg

And Andrew's (...and then there are those timeless treasures...you should hear them talk!)

http://i341.photobucket.com/albums/o368/beccaberry73/DSCN0200.jpg

Ok, I'm off to see if there's any snow left...perhaps I'll have a chance to post a few shots of the "big" tree when I return!

I did it as part of a tour group on one of those "guided" raft things. I use the term "guided" loosely as our guides looked and acted as though they'd walked straight off the set of the Deliverance.

We rafted rapids for 2 hours along the stretch they used for the Atlanta Olympics. As we hit the first rapid I honestly thought we would die. But as we emerged from the other side the adrenalin rush was amazing. It was awesome. :D

It is like the start of all his Birthday celebrations. Sooooooooo we bought him a really rubbish 4ft tree and some cheap decorations to go on it. We put it up without telling him and he was so chuffed when he got up on his Birthday, you would have thought we had given him the moon lol.:rotfl:
