View Full Version : How cool will this sky be?

There will be a wonderful conjuction in the sky on December 1, 2008. The moon in its waxing crescent phase will be less than a finger's width (at arm's distance) away from bright Venus and nearly as bright Jupiter. Step outside around 45 minutes after local sunset and you should see a rare sight like this:

I have my fingers crossed for a clear night as from where we are Venus will be occulted by the moon

Thank you - will put it in the diary! Did you use Australian Eastern Standard or Daylight saving time? Most of the East Coast use Daylight saving but Queensland are "special" :rolleyes: and we don't change!

Hey Kazz, not sure, how my program came up with it, but I would look about a half hour to forty five minutes after sunset.:thumbsup:

really hoping for a clear night on monday. I think i've seen jupiter already so this would be good
