Horsehead and Rosette from boxing day night - 2 hours worth of data for the Horsey and 1 for the Rosette

Me likey my new toys

The horse is a dark cloud that you can only see because it is lit from behind by the red curtain of nebula

great pix chris

so what are your new toys?

this is all to do with the guiding setup I put a thread on last week Mick - means I can effectively take 10 -20 minute exposures whereas with the setup I was using before I could only manage 2-3 minutes - that means I can use lower ISO's which means less noise and more signal - The Rosette nebula on the bottom was a nebula I could not have taken a picture of at all unless I had the guide setup.

I took photos on Boxing Day too in my parent's back garden. I took shots of Orion, the big saucepan and the big W shape. They were really bright in the sky but just came out as black sky on my camera. :(

I know it probably doesn't mean much really, coming from someone with so little knowledge of photography and astronomy, but I want you to know how absolutely incredible your photos are. I am completely awed by them...lost in the majesty of the universe... isn't that what it's really all about?

Thank you for sharing them with us! :hug1:
