Please help me. I'm trapped at my inlaws and cannot escape. I've never been so miserable. It's freezing cold. There's nothing to do here. I'm being forced to sit and watch one soap after another. I'm being fed a constant stream of breadmaker shaped food. After lunch I drove 20 miles just to get a bunch of grapes - I was that desperate. I've still got another 24 hours to go. I bought 3 books with me and I've read them all. THERE ARE NO BOOKS IN THIS HOUSE!!! I told Adrian I was bored and fed up and now he's not speaking to me.

PLEASE GET ME OUT OF HERE!!! :(

Oh no!!! And I have just looked at my tv pages and it's Emmerdale, Eastenders and a DOUBLE corrie tonight!!!! Total trauma woman!

OK. Where is the nearest supermarket? Great place for picking up books...do you have Willow with you? Can you somehow take her for a long walk that involves the car to pick up 10 books from Tesco?? Can't you bribe Steven to cry very loudly for something you HAVE to drive to the supermarket for?

Here is a virtual :poke: for Adrian - I know he's normally a very lovely man but what the heck.

Do they have a garden? You can survive on grass and nettles - they aren't breadmaker shaped. And next year remember these words of wisdom - arrange to work on in-laws day instead of Christmas Day.

Is there any alcohol apart from a tiny sherry???

And Captain Brit. Deb reporting for duty. I have a balaclava and everything (don't ask  )

Yep we're on Eastenders right now. I'm looking for some needles to stick in my eyes.

We're miles from anywhere. The nearest supermarket is a 20 mile round trip which is the trip I did earlier to get grapes - they didn't have any books. I think the nearest Tesco is in Exeter which is an hour's drive away.

Seriously how can you have a house with no books in it? I've even read Steven's kiddie solar system book. :sigh:

Firstly - Feign a heart attack. Secondly - get the paramedics to drop you at the nearest travel inn. Thirdly - post on here your room number and we'll be round with the Twister and Pringles before you can say impromptu party!

In the depths of Devon. Ten miles from the nearest cashpoint and don't even go there with the nearest Starbucks. :(

And now it's part 2 of Corrie.

I'd stick my head in the oven but it's bloody electric because the gas board won't lay pipes this far out.

As someone who has been in this situation...

1. Birdwatching/nice long walk
2. Start an argument with an extremist point of view and then sit back an enjoy.
3. read the Yellow pages cos they are different
4. Alcohol
5. Hug knees and Rock gently
6. Find an origami website and spend all day making stuff with all the paper in the house.

..... I'll think of more stuff i did

1. Did that this morning
2. They wouldn't get it.
3. No books remember - that includes phone books.
4. None - will remember gin next trip
5. Done that for many an hour
6. Interesting, may give that a try.

Am bringing caching stuff next time - just seen how many caches there are on Dartmoor - and all big ones, not a micro in sight. :D

Dawn

I am safe at home where there are books in every room.

Tink
31-12-2008, 12:42 PM
Yes, I thought that was the case.

Perhaps next visit you should send a parcel of books ahead. That way you won't have to lug them all with you.

Dawn
31-12-2008, 12:45 PM
Or I could just divert to Teresa's.

Tink
31-12-2008, 12:50 PM
That might work best.

They must be happy to have you though. Sounds as if they have their lives in a pattern, and that's that.

You'll just have to carry your fruit, veggies and books along.

You know...I've been hearing a popping sound outdoors for the past hour. Sounds like fireworks, but I'm positive that isn't the case...
