:taunt: You really want to know?! It wasn't fun hectic, it was hectic-hectic.

:surrender: You asked for it...

First of all, Jordan woke up feeling crummy and decided not to go to school...this complicated my plans for the day. I know he's 12 now, but I'm not fond of leaving him alone at home for long periods of time.

I left for the BMV to renew my driver's license which was to expire that day (I know, I know...way to wait til the last minute...hold on, I'm not even getting started). I get to BMV and luckily have very little wait...get to counter and start the process until she goes to verify my social security number....ummm...guess who still hadn't changed her SS card to her married name (4 years!)?? :nono:

I ran home to get my certified marriage license....ummm....where did I put that??? Things are looking bad. I tell Jordan I have to drive into Hamilton (1/2 hour away) to get things sorted out and I might just be gone HOURS.

Made sure he had my cell number and Marcus' and I left for Hamilton...first stop, the Probate Court to get another certified wedding license. Luck was with me, and there was no one else there and I was in and out in about 10 minutes. (They charge $2 to make a xerox copy and put a seal on it!!!)

Next stop was the Social Security office. I was soooo dreading this. Why do you think I'd still not changed my name in 4 years?) Walked in to find a touch screen computer check in. Chose the reason I was there, and a printer spit out my number...B120...time stamped 11:33am. There were also signs EVERYWHERE saying to turn OFF your cell phone...do NOT put on vibrate...do NOT put on silent... TURN IT OFF! So, I slipped quickly back outside to call Jordan and tell him if the house was burning down, he had to call Marcus 'cause the SS office was threatening to put me in jail if I left my cell phone on.

I took a seat next to two woman...one young, one older. The young one (20's) was continually whining about how long she'd been there and yet to see anyone (nearly an hour)...after I'd been there about 5 minutes, the older one got up in disgust and said she'd try again another day. This did nothing for my confidence of how long I was to sit in this terrible place.

Not long after I heard them call B117...hmmm, maybe this really won't be so bad. They soon called my number and I was finished and sitting in the car by 12:02! Less than half an hour! :worship: (The younger woman I had been sitting next to glared daggers at me as I left...she was still sitting there)

I drove back into my town and got my new driver's license and was home by 1:15pm...so it turned out much better than I'd feared...but it was still not the way I'd intended to spend my day.

When Marcus got home we went to dinner at Texas Roadhouse. I had wanted to get prime rib, but by the time we got there, they only had medium-well and well left. Yuck! Ordered a ribeye steak instead and it was lovely, so I was quite happy. Had a lovely drink that I can't remember the name of, but it was some kind of special margherita.

Went home to open some pressies...a new Mickey purse from Jordan and the Torchwood series 2 collection of DVDs from Marcus. A couple of candles and some chocolates.

At least you didn't get sucked into the vacuum at Social Security! That place is crazy anywhere you go.

Well, that's not exactly what I was hoping to hear about! I rather hoped you had spent the day having a chaotically good time! :hug2:

However, at least you got it all sorted and won't have to go through that again! :D :D

Maybe next time you won't wait until the last minute. LOL

But hey, at least you won't have the Social Security problem again right? VA doesn't require the Social Security any more.

VA doesn't require the Social Security any more.

Ohio licenses don't actually require a social security card any more either...they are online directly with the SS office. The problem was that the BMV has me as *Porter* on my license, but the SS office still shows me as *Cline*. It flagged me as a possible identity theft. I had to prove that I was one and the same person.
