but are they supposed to be sweet/sour ?? Jon has just made me one, i think there's too much soda in it. Is it usually quite strong?

Johnie
02-01-2009, 06:30 PM
hmmmmm.....it's usually medium.

Beccaberry
02-01-2009, 06:32 PM
No, I'd not consider it a "strong" drink...more one of those mellow one's that sneaks up on you when you suddenly realize you've drank 15 of them...They are very easy to drink on a hot summer day...think, guzzle :D

I was going to say minty then I remembered it's Mojo's I was thinking of.

The Mojito's I've always had have been quite minty...mint, sugar, lime juice, light rum and club soda?

Not a big fan... Don't care for mint.

Tink

A mojito is a Cubano version of a mint julep. The bourbon in the julep is replaced by rum. The ones I've had were quite strong. I don't care for rum, so didn't much care for the mojito.

i think it may need more lime and sugar, we're using tortuga rum - a pirates life for me hic

i do feel wonderfully relaxed, must experiment to see what the perfect recipe is!

Tink

Yes, more lime (and sugar if you like). It's supposed to reach right out and grab you and say "YO!HO!YO!HO! A mojito life for me!" :D

Johnie

Jon mixed us a lovely cranappletini on NYE...it was yummy.

I don't typically do "complex" drinks...I'm more of a dirty martini sort...throw some vodka (or gin) in a glass with some olives and I'm a happy woman.

Tink
02-01-2009, 07:20 PM
Ayuh. The mixed drinks start to get too sweet and that's not something I'm a big fan of; sweet drinks.

I do like a sour Tom Collins, and a gin and tonic from time to time...

Tink

Oh good heavens nope! That's way too sweet. Same thing with the tequila sunrises, sloe gin fizzes, fuzzy navels and all that sort of stuff!

We were making these (http://www.cocktailmaking.co.uk/displaycocktail.php/162-Sex-on-the-beach) on NYE. They were very poplar. DH says you couldn't taste any alcohol.

Fantastically! You all made some very popular choices. Every time a new song came on everyone would whoop!

Although I like a good Margarita (rocks, not frozen), I'm really a martini person - gin, very dry, up with olives.

The only part of that drink I like is the olives, the gin does give them a very nice taste :D

A PROPERLY made old fahioned

Or a PROPER martini (When I was a bartender I was taught to make martini's by the former head tender of the Beverly Hotel...Ive actually gone BEHIND a bar and made my own...because the bartender sucked!)

Or a wonderful glass of Guinness...

Im all over the place...when its hot I just want a girly drink...give me my freakin umbrella!
