inspired by Josh I thought I'd try altering my photos using just the hue, saturation and lightness....why not try it yourself and show us the results!

here's my original picture first then the altered one

This is the only thing I know how to do so far on photoshop!

Very Cool! My favourite one is the rose... to make the background back to it's normal colour, use the lasoo tool to select the part you want to colourise... click layers>new layer> via cut... and then press CTRL and U, and it will colourise just the layer/selection you have selected.

Nice work.

I did that ages ago when I sort of got hooked changing pics. I was tempted to get the altered one on to a canvas, but wasn't sure how it would turn out.

i tried the lasso tool thing when i was trying to do black and white with a hint of colour but i can't get to grips with it. i managed to keep the greenery (although deepened it a little) by choosing from the drop down list which colours i wanted to work with then changed the hue.

Very nice pics- How big is it? I think it'd be good on a canvas if you used the original sized one

the color changing one, the purple hair? yep but my computer was sooo slow i didn't have time to get my head round it! will try later maybe.

Yep the purple hair. The key is though instead of the purple hair, just choose a grey color for the parts you want to look b&w-ish. So for example, with my orange flower. I choose a 'tone' that was grey and took my little "brush" all over around the flower and then hit the "keep" button to take the brush inside of the flower.

Then I just hit that button that says something about guessing about the parts not touched with the brush. After that you'll notice it normally doesn't do every thing you want so you just repeat the process.

ahhh now that makes sense! thanks FD, i'll give it a try
