Horsehead and Rosette from boxing day night - 2 hours worth of data for the Horsey and 1 for the Rosette
Me likey my new toys
The horse is a dark cloud that you can only see because it is lit from behind by the red curtain of nebula

this is all to do with the guiding setup I put a thread on last week Mick - means I can effectively take 10 -20 minute exposures whereas with the setup I was using before I could only manage 2-3 minutes - that means I can use lower ISO's which means less noise and more signal - The Rosette nebula on the bottom was a nebula I could not have taken a picture of at all unless I had the guide setup.

Wow Chris, they are amazing!! Loving the horsey!
I took photos on Boxing Day too in my parent's back garden. I took shots of Orion, the big saucepan and the big W shape. They were really bright in the sky but just came out as black sky on my camera. :(

Thanks chaps - I am dead pleased to be taking pics like this at last - problem is it will never be 'good enough' just like any photography

I know it probably doesn't mean much really, coming from someone with so little knowledge of photography and astronomy, but I want you to know how absolutely incredible your photos are. I am completely awed by them...lost in the majesty of the universe... isn't that what it's really all about? :unsure:
