On January 12th 2009 we have to apply for an ESTA before we can travel to the USA now. Does anyone know anymore info on this please?

It's a 4000 page document to be completed in triplicate. Every member of your party must complete their own document regardless of age or writing ability of number of arms missing. Such questions to be answered include "how long are your middle toenails" and "how many times a year do you eat Spam". All questions must be answered completely in red white and blue biro and must be submitted at least 22 years before your date of travel. These will be marked and lost and burnt and will need to be redone four times before they actually find yours. It will then be returned because your signature is 2.3mm too high.

I don't know. :D

I'm ringing your MIL right now and telling her you want to spend the whole of the summer holidays at hers.

I kind of like my version though. A sly dig at american bureacracy. :D

Val will know. She knows things like that.

LOL and she was moaning about you drawing a moustache on her portrait ???????

Seriously Hellie, it is the green form but online.... once completed you will be authorised, pending authorisation or denied ... this is then valid for 2 years, and on each trip within the 2 years, you go back online with your unique reference number, and update the flight and accommodation information....

it is a tedious process, but one we have no choice in I am afraid...

It must be done a MINIMUM of 3 days before travel.... but I really wouldn't leave it that late to do.

Oh no you did it wrong, you'll be subjected to cruel and unusual punishment now.

Or even worse, made to work with me.

yep everytime you have completed one trip and have another one confirmed, you need to update your information.

If you do not remember your reference number, then I am sure you can recall it with your passport number.

Those of you who have filled this in, did you hold your breath from the moment you pressed submit to the moment you get the reply?

Do you need to get a print out of confirmation to take with you?

The site says that you don't because all the info is held in their computer.
However I will be taking a copy next month, just in case.

can I make a suggestion.... learning from my own oversights.....

when you are completing the form, and once complete you submit it, it then returns with all your details complete in the box for final checking...... print this page too...... just in case..... not going into it too much here, but to be able to prove what was submitted at your end, may in extreme circumstances prove useful.

Is it one form per family name?

what about the 'white form'

Val

ESTA is one per person, as per the green form, the white form (1 per family) still has to be completed for submission to immigration as normal.
