When is this taking place?
Right now
I think "completely walled off " was a bit strong, there's a wall around the bottom but you can still see the hat and depending where the painters are at the time, take reasonable photos

No, I didn't take any photos as the wall was pretty tall & you could have only gotten the top portion of the hat. What are they doing with it? Is there going to be shows there or what? I forget how the sign was worded on it but it made it sound like it was going to be used for something else, not a pin shop.

There was also a crane at the MK castle all last week.....and no shows on the castle forecourt.
The viking ship at Norway in Epcot is gone too.
There were quite a few things 'missing' that we noticed over the holiday...and do not get me started on Fantasmic being cut...it was ridiculously busy!

:(
Yes, we saw the empty space left from removing the Viking ship. It's been planted to look like a garden. :sigh:
The barriers around the fountain at Future World are a funny blue color. Really detracts from the entire setting. I know refurbishing has to be done, but it's not like the old days when Disney worked wicked hard to get things done as fast as they could, and in many cases overnight!

I was bummed to see the Viking Ship missing as well. Tho the last few visits you hadn't been able to board it anyway. I have fond memories of my oldest climbing up the roap ladder on that thing :) I wonder why they stopped allowing people on it? I figured someone must have gotten hurt & sued, who knows tho.
Yeah, was also disappointed that the fountain was walled off & not going. I always enjoy watching that.
