New posters have been appearing around Disney areas that simply all black with white lettering that asks, “Are you 23?” Down at the bottom it says “March 10 - Disney” along with a web address to http://Disney.com/23
The mysterious campaign seems set to continue being a mystery since the website gives nothing more away!
Internet theories have suggested it's a reference to some disney history from 23 years ago which may inspire a 2009 mini celebration? who knows!

Yes Pixar turns 23..but I dont think Big John would let Disney post anything about that without something Pixar being on there...

Well lets stop and think about this for a moment....the posters for this started appearing at the Disney Studios in Burbank California, its in the preview section of the Disney website...March 10th is a Tuesday..its gotta be a game or a video of some sort...
Im hoping for a new magazine honestly or something for the crazed Disney fans...since they are pushing so hard for new people to come...

Well this one still has everyone talking
The latest from screamscape suggests:-
"The latest D-23 update claims that the whole initiative came forward last year when a Disney fan berated Iger over the fact that the company only caters to the casual Disney park fans and has abandoned the more dedicated intense long-term Disney fans. If the rumors hold true, people will apparently be asked to pay about $100 a year to become part of this new club which will be offered a bunch of new exclusive merchandise opportunities as well as setting up 1 or 2 fan events at the parks a year, with the first to take place in Anaheim.
As for the origin of the number 23… we still don’t know for sure but it was also pointed out that WED officially became Walt Disney Imagineering in 1986 and the shareholders changed name of Walt Disney Productions to The Walt Disney Company in 1986 as well, making each name 23 years old. As for the March 10th date… some wonder if the details about the new club may be revealed along with the rerelease of Pinocchio on DVD and Blu-Ray on March 10th."

Not long now...any more thoughts as to what this might be?
I did read the other day that there is some speculation that the "23" refers to 1923. This year is recognized as the year that Walt Disney Studios came into existence.
Should be interesting!

I'm a bit confused about all that. Probably because I keep getting stuck at "$16 for a magazine" !!!
It's taking too long to open using dial-up. I'll try to check it out tomorrow at the office.

Well I am a sucker for Walt so I reckon I will be purchasing this. At least I can get my Barnes and Noble discount too.
I think for a coffee table mag it looks pretty neat. Be interesting to see if we can get a copy here.

It sounds to me that it's going to be for Disneyland rather than WDW

I thought the references were all for Disneyland   especially when the sign up for information was on the DL site. I suppose it depends on how popular it is whether they carry on or not with the other Parks.
I can't see it becoming as prestige as Club 33 can you  but at least this would be within my reach :D

We were in the Magic Kingdom Club many moons ago - was sad when that ended - we still use the bag though
Oh gosh! I'd forgotten about MK club! We were in it too. I think we still have the big yellow Micky head luggage tag. Was a nice discount on the park tickets. :sigh:

yeah for our first trip we joined that then got AP's at the time it was the cheapest way of getting tickets for 2 weeks
I think it was 1996...
We used the bag up! It fell apart after several years of constant use. Herself used it for work at the time, if I recall.
What else were the perks, do you remember? I've forgotten. :sigh: :spring: No matter. It's gone now...
Ooooooh! I remember the Magic Kingdom Club! It originated at Disneyland and was offered free through employers. :)
Beyond park tickets, I have no idea what the perks were. But the park tickets made Disneyland affordable when Leu's DD and DS reached age 3!
The last time I had a card was in 1981 when I visited WDW for the first time. I think it had a room discount, as well as park ticket discount. Don't recall anything else, though.

We were too!
Members and sad, that is.
Still have the membership card and all the various goodies (luggage tags, bags, etc.). I just can't bring myself to throw any of that out!
Tom (:macwave:... self appointed Assistant Cruise Director)
I was in the, umm....I think it was the Disney Club, whatever the MK club evolved into. Then they got rid of them all and gave out a Visa card that only US citizens could have. :sigh:
I remember that. We have a Disney Visa...it has Tink on it. We don't use it much at Disney though, and don't accumulate many points at all. :sigh:

We too were members of the Magic Kingdom Club.
Finally was able to open PA's link. :)
Think I'll give this a miss. I don't need more "merchandise opportunities" and my schedule rarely fits with any other calendars/schedules.
I'll live vicariously through everyone's reports. :D
