Long story short, I joined Fitness First back in January 2008 on a 12 month minimum contract. Decided to leave them last October to join another gym that had a pool. I gave more than the required 1 months notice of cancellation. Well it appears that that first payment wasn't the first payment after all. They've decided to give it some fancy title that they now claim covers only the joining fee and an admin fee and a pro-rata payment and my actual membership didn't start until the February. So today I'm told pay another £60 or we will impose further charges and then we'll start court proceedings if you don't pay that! I asked them to explain how a 12 month contract can consist of 13 payments but they couldn't. I am so cross that they can take £60 from me for absolutely no reason other than they can threaten you with stuff if you don't. Miffed? Not 'alf!
