View Full Version : reduced Fantasmic shows annoy guests

Last year it was reported that Fantasmic was being cut to just two shows per week beginning January 2009 (for no good reason that anyone could understand other than the mighty dollar). The first few shows in January have apparently been extremely busy. Reports around the net indicate that the show was at standing room only 1 hour before showtime, and managers were left at the entrance to explain to guests why they wern't able to see the show. Reportedly there was a line out of guest relations still at 45 minutes after park close.

Truly this is the most stupid thing Disney has ever done. Fantasmic is ALWAYS filled so I don't understand the need to get rid of so many shows. Saving money by reducing favorite attractions is stupid.

I agree. It's always packed and is a personal favorite of mine. I have to say that I would be one ticked off guest if I couldn't see Fantamsic due to this idea (and not weather).
I've never been to a show that wasn't standing room only by start time.
Probably one of the daftest decisions Disney has ever made. What were they thinking of?

Rumours around the net say it now looks that Disney are going to address the problem to some extent by adding a second show on Thursday night. No confirmation from Disney and no mention of whether it will be every Thursday or what
Saving money by reducing favorite attractions is stupid.
I agree!
Fantasmic is also my personal favorite

Fantasmic is my favorite of all the night time spectaculars . This was not a wise decision at all .

I can't believe they have done this!!! Who wants to start a petition?!
Thats a good idea Josh. Isnt there an on line petition site where you can start your own petition up?

At the risk of being flamed, I won't miss it. It's 'ok' but not worth the hour-plus wait on those painfully hard bleachers!
Now, if they mess with Illuminations, I will be mad!:D

i must admit the reduced showings of this together with the fact that the park will now be heaving on those nights has left us to make the decision that we are not going to bother seeing it this year. If we happen to have some free time when it is on then we may go along but i am not going to plan to go.

Oh my....we went to DHS last week and thought we were being silly turning up for Fantasmic at 5.20pm when it didn't start until 7pm. Before the cutback, we would go 30 minutes before and get a seat.
Anyway, at 5.20pm.......there were HUNDREDS of folk in front of us in line.
It also made for a crowded day at the park.

.... :nono: pretty well confirmed my view that this show, good as it is, is simply not worth the investment in time, crowds etc needed to see it anymore. Even my favourite Illuminations only needs you to wander on to the plaza in front of Italy at 8.55 for a perfect view. If it required a 1 hour wait, I wouldn't bother!

one thing that surprises me about cutting back on these shows is that they must be loosing a fortune on the stuff that they sell while you are waiting for the show to start -ive never seen any where where they sell so much stuff

I have to admit, I agree with Mike on this one. BUT, I am not a show person really. Once I've seen one I don't feel the need to see it too many more times. The light parades are the only exceptions & even those it's if the timing is right. Altho, we were going to see Fantasmic this trip because we hadn't since 2000 & i was quite surprised to find it was only twice a week. And of course not the night we were there & I wasn't going to make a special trip back to MGM just to see it. This show is so popular with most people tho, cannot imagine it's going to stay like this or there may be a rebellion amongst the people, lol.

I really hope that they go back to the regular schedule of once a night before we go back next time. Fantasmic is by far Jordan and my favorite show at Disney and it is a MUST see for every trip. Are they still offering the dinner package? If I have to, I will purchase a dinner package just to insure our seats.
Let's just keep the faith that Disney will see the stupidity in this action and go back to normal.
