27-01-2009, 01:17 PM
well done you!!!

27-01-2009, 01:24 PM
i know - we can't believe it!!

The lady is *very* positive and enthusiastic so we're all excited now! Our prices were too low she said so she's going to sell them for what she can get and take 20% - fingers crossed people actually buy them!

Excellent!

It's good the shop owner recognizes the price the cards should sell at and will work with you so you get a bit more money. You need to recoup the cost of materials and labour at minimum. It's hard to set a price on your labour, though.

Let's hope the market will bear the prices she thinks the cards will fetch and you have many repeat buyers! :D

Excellent news!!! :9:

One method of pricing for retail is the old (but still valid) Keystone method. In simplest terms it goes like this, 50 plus 20. That means once you have determined the base cost of your cards (supplies and your time to create the card) add fifty percent. To that total add 20 percent. Then you have your retail cost.

At least that's the way the Basket Importer I used to work for did it.

Good luck to you!

what fantastic news
but the one thing i hope is thatyou can still enjoy making them even though you now have to rush making them

27-01-2009, 09:10 PM
That is brilliant news mum!!! :fingers: that they sell above and beyond your expectations!

27-01-2009, 09:15 PM
YAY!!! Well done!

28-01-2009, 09:48 AM
thank you, you're all so sweet :hug2:

I said to my sister yesterday it'll be different now as we'll be making them because we *have* to rather than because we want to, so I hope the enjoyment is still there in a couple of weeks when we have to deliver some more!

the lady did say though that she doesn't want to pressure us and she's soooo enthusiastic, and that's a fantastic feeling that she WANTS to sell *our* creations.

Remember, it's your talent and your creative ability that makes the beautiful cards, so don't rush through what is a process you love!

I'm so pleased for you! Let's hope this year continues to be good and gets better with each passing day.
