Ok, well it's not life threatening or anything :D

But I have parents who are wanting to take their son on an impromptu trip to Disney next week and are asking me advice on which hotel to book.

Their son is head over heels for DHS (MGM) so they'd like to be close to that park or at least have a boat launch.

So out of the three: Yacht, Beach and Boardwalk...what do you think the best choice would be for mom/dad/son age 5?

Johnie had suggested OKW and perhaps Ft Wilderness as well, does anyone know how far the trip to DHS is from those two?

I was thinking the Beach Club, because of the awesome pool?

Which one is it that has the scary clown slide?

Boardwalk has the scary clown.

Boardwalk has the scary clown slide.

Yacht Club also shares Stormalong Bay. I'd probably choose either Yacht or Beach Club.

agreed yc or bc... . yc is pretty oppressive inside, very dark, BC is the exact opposite

Pool however may not be an issue as it looks a little chilly athe moment

I LoVed The Beach Club . Character breakfast in the morning and Cape May Clambake for dinner . The pool is awesome as you know . Beaches & Cream right there, too .
Yacht Club is nice to depends which atmosphere they prefer .

Nope, Tink, not too late at all!

And Dawn, I agree...if I had the money, I'd pick BC in a heartbeat.

So that's what I suggested to them :D

It's a lovely place. Whoa...definitely NOT Hotel California!

We really love the light and bright colors there, and the staff. Of course the pool, and the quiet pool too!

Cape May is a long time favorite for dinner, and of course, there is the close proximity to YSH and Beaches and Cream. Although they are fans of DHS, we love the super close walk to the IG!

They can take the ferry to DHS, of course, or walk there. I'd recommend walking from the BC to the BW and along the BW side of the canal. Otherwise they'll have to cross over the road to get to the other side. :D

Hope they have a lovely time!

OOOOOOOOOOOOH!! I bet they didn't even know walking was an option!!! Thank you TINK!!!

I mentioned the IG as well...along with a few other tips :D

If money allowed the BC is my dream wanna stay at resort !!!!

Sooooooooooooooo...thank you all for your suggestions...this is a truly LOVELY family and I adore the mom, so I'm really trying to help them as much as I can.

In the end, they opted for The Boardwalk. They were sold on the Beach Club until they found out the main pool was closed for a refurb...and he's a big swimmer, so they thought he'd like the clown slide (shudder). I think the location is great for them...and I think they'll be pleased.

Well some people like clowns..NOT me!

Oh gosh. The clown pool is too freaky. Not only that but the BWI is not half the resort the BC is. :sigh: No matter, they'll have a lovely time. I'd not be too happy if Storm Along Bay were closed when I was staying at the BC either. (But I'd still stay there before the BW)!

Hope they have a lovely time regardless of where they are!

They are back!!! They came into my office today and he was grinning from EAR TO EAR!!! He was clutching a stack of photos and just beaming! They had a WONDERFUL time, LOVED the BW (even the clown pool) and he was chosen to take part in the Jedi Training Session!!!!! ON HIS BIRTHDAY!!!! He was STILL walking on air!

His mother was so thankful for all of the advice and tips we were able to give them on such short notice...she asked me to pass along her deepest gratitude to each of you.
