Spotted an advert on TV a few weeks ago about recycling your old mobile phones. Finally got round to rummaging through the junk drawer in the kitchen, only to find 6 old phones there.

The company arranged to collect them free by courier(not sure if I can name them so haven't but just do a search) and I now have a few pence short of 100 cheque on its way to me. Going to pay it straight off the holiday balance.

As well as making money, it's a great way to recycle as you shouldn't throw them in the bin - they are reused.

Just thought may be of interest to someone in the current economic climate :)

Nope just sent the working phone without the sim.

Be interested to know what site everyone uses.

I've got 2 working Nokia 6280's to get rid of and really can't be doing with ebaying them as there's no guarentee and they haven't been used for a while.
Best price i have got so far is 19 each with fonebank(who i used last time)

I used 'envirophone'. No all they want is the handset and battery. They say you can send any other accessories but won't increase the trade in price. If you go on the website and put in the make/model number they give you a price for cash - or Argos vouchers. If you choose the vouchers you get a bit more. It's freepost or courier collection if you have more than four. I have been really impressed with the service too :)

I sold my Nokia N95 to Mazuma. I filled my details out on the web and had envelope to post it to them the next day. I sent the phone of and had a cheque for 105 in two days. Excellent service and without the hazzle Ebay causes.

As long as he sends me a cheque for the same or more as the online recycle services then he's more than welcome :)

My problem is the opposite in a way! All mine ARE perfect with boxes/manuals etc so I know I'd probably get more on ebay but arghrhgrghrgh the hassle

I had a few that were worth pennies - old Nokia 3330 was 24p. It suited me as I have never sold on EBAY and it was hassle free :)

Hang on to it--you'll probably be able to sell it for something in about 30 years! Time capsule also is a good idea! :D

I haven't seen anything similar here--although I haven't really looked! I'm still using my first cell phone!

However, we replaced cell phones where I used to work (about 30 of the things) and--after much searching--found an organization that refurbishes the phones for women/families in crisis. The 911 feature always will work (if the phone is charged) and it also can be used as a prepaid phone, if the recipient chooses. I think there are more organizations that do this now.
