I know it well, born and raised in Hythe, spent mos of my childhood riding around the forest on my bike. Lyndhurst is lovely.

My nan and grandad lived in Hythe - spent lots of summer holidays there and on the Isle of Wight as a child - used to love the pier with the train to get to the other end

Glad you had a nice few days away - I love the New Forest :D

Re: been away for a few days - trippie and photos added

got a call from my cousin who was going to the Gambia on Weds morning - they said we could go and stay at there house while they're away so we packed up the car, chucked the boys bikes on it and whizzed down there.

they have lovely loos and the jacuzzi bath - the bathroom has underfloor heating and a built in radio so you can listen while you pee!

went shopping on the way and picked up loads of christmas crafty stuff for 30p or 50p - woohoo!

picked up the keys from their neighbour and made ourselves at home for the evening. watched tv, relaxed and went to bed late.

woke up late on Thursday, relaxed then took the boys into the Forest with their bikes and found a place at Lyndhurst where they could do bike jumps to their hearts content!

back home for more relaxation and tv then dinner followed by more relaxation. i took my patchwork stuff with me so sewed some patches while we relaxed - went to bed late again.

woke up late again! relaxed, went out for a drive round and about. went to Burley for a wander, then down some little bumpy windy roads and didn't know where we were 'til we found the main road again - cool, it was fun!

went into Lyndhurst to some tea rooms for grub as we were very hungry. food was ok but it was flippin noisy in there.

persuaded them to drop me back at the shop so i could pick up a few more crafty bits and apparently i was in there for an hour - i didn't believe that, i'm sure they were exagerating! (sp?)

back to the house, more tv and relaxing after tea. went to bed late.....

i woke up early! they didn't! pottered and got stuff ready to chuck back in the car - tidied and left a thank you note and pressies. left the house then went back to the forest for more bike riding before we came home. went to a place called Matley.....it was excellent.

very muddy and the boys had a fab time. we were there for some time then made our way back to the car, threw the bikes on it and ourselves in it then left and came back home to a (fairly) tidy house unlike the last time we went away (plastering - remember?)

bear with me while i post a few pics.....

Just have a red X in a box on the last photo.

But love the rest--especially the gnarly tree trunk. And the one with the shadow of the person on the ground. :)

Looks like the boys had a terrific time doing what they do best--being active!
