preferred fireworks viewing?

Does anyone know where the preferred viewing spots are for wishes and illuminations? apparently we get these free when booking with disney

the illuminations one was where the showcase meets future world - to the left of the shop when we did it in 2007

For Wishes it is the lower patio in front of The Plaza restaurant, a pretty obstructed view IMHO not really worth bothering with.
