Beccaberry
23-02-2009, 01:13 AM
Anyone else watching the red carpet and the Oscars?

Johnie
23-02-2009, 01:16 AM
No, I'm thinking about going back to bed.

Anything good happening?

Beccaberry
23-02-2009, 01:18 AM
LOL, No...not really...

I probably wouldn't be watching myself if I didn't have a stake in it :D

We have a contest going at work, the person who names the most winners correctly receives a day off - WITH PAY!

:D

Johnie
23-02-2009, 01:19 AM
That certainly is a good incentive! Who did you place your bets on?

Beccaberry
23-02-2009, 01:24 AM
Best Pic - Slumdog Millionaire
Best Director - SM
Best Actor - Sean Penn (Milk) (Though I waffled between he and Rourke all week)
Best Actress - Kate Winslet
Best Supporting Actor - Heath Ledger
Best Supporting Actress - Penelope Cruz
Orig Screenplay - Milk
Adapted Screenplay - SM
Animated Feature - Wall-E

There's more...but you may not care :D

Johnie
23-02-2009, 01:29 AM
goodness you have to get them all right???

Ok I am in. I will be watching so I can see Heath Ledger win posthumously. And I really hope Kate Winslet wins. She is my girl crush

Ok I swear I am the ONLY person in the world who hated Wall E. It was awful :sorry:

Beccaberry
23-02-2009, 01:38 AM
LOL, you should have seen me trying to choose Foreign Language Film, Live Action Short, and Documentary Short....

Beccaberry
23-02-2009, 01:38 AM
I love Kate...I hope she wins..FINALLY.

I also love Anne Hathaway :D She's very...real.

Johnie
23-02-2009, 01:39 AM

Beccaberry
23-02-2009, 01:41 AM
I KNOW!!

DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWN!!! Where are you!?!?!? Angelina ALERT!!!!

Beccaberry
23-02-2009, 01:41 AM
I do believe poor Steve just lost his job....

Whoever the hell Steve is.

Johnie
23-02-2009, 01:44 AM
Yeah that was bad......poor Steve :sorry:

Beccaberry
23-02-2009, 01:45 AM
Perhaps Mickey Rourke can go back there and take his place...he's scaring me.

Beccaberry
23-02-2009, 01:45 AM
I love Amy Adams. She's adorable.

Johnie
23-02-2009, 01:48 AM
I feel the need to go see some movies.......

Beccaberry
23-02-2009, 01:48 AM
LOL! I know!

WOOT! One for One!

Johnie
23-02-2009, 01:49 AM
Woohoo!!

Beccaberry
23-02-2009, 01:55 AM
C'mon MILK!

Johnie
23-02-2009, 01:57 AM
I think we are the only ones watching?

Beccaberry
23-02-2009, 01:58 AM
Beautiful speech by Dustin Lance Black...HOORAH.

Beccaberry
23-02-2009, 01:59 AM
*giggle* I do believe you are right, Johnie :D

Johnie
23-02-2009, 01:59 AM
Yes, that was quite nice

Johnie
23-02-2009, 02:07 AM
Becca darling, I am glad you are winning thus far but really? Wall E won? I swear I missed the boat on this......

Beccaberry
23-02-2009, 02:09 AM
LOL!!!

I marked the Animated Short off my list (we were allowed to omit four) I couldn't decide between Presto and Petits Cubes

Beccaberry
23-02-2009, 02:10 AM
Seriously, I love Angelina as much as the next girl, but do we need to cut to her every three seconds while Jennifer is on?

And did that man just thank his pencil?

Johnie
23-02-2009, 02:11 AM
So were you allowed to view these things at work?

Johnie
23-02-2009, 02:11 AM
Seriously, I love Angelina as much as the next girl, but do we need to cut to her every three seconds while Jennifer is on?

And did that man just thank his pencil?

That poor could barely speak english! He was sweet though.

Yes, I noticed how they kept panning to Angelina.

Beccaberry
23-02-2009, 02:13 AM
The Oscars?

Well, I did a LOT of googling on company time, I'll admit...but only on my lunch

Johnie
23-02-2009, 02:14 AM
Is that your story?

Beccaberry
23-02-2009, 02:15 AM
...and I'm sticking to it!

PsychoAlice
23-02-2009, 02:21 AM
domo arigato mr roboto? I about died laughing!

Yes he did thank his pencil!

Beccaberry
23-02-2009, 02:21 AM
Thought so...

I'm six for six! Rockin'!

Johnie
23-02-2009, 02:22 AM
Do you know someone on the Academy Miss?

Beccaberry
23-02-2009, 02:23 AM
No, but I *do* know three people who are there tonight!

I didn't vote on this one...too close to call...

Beccaberry
23-02-2009, 02:25 AM
I don't agree with this one...Hellboy should have won...there was more "makeup" involved...whereas TCCOBB was more CGI....but I knew the Academy wasn't going to vote Hellboy :D

Johnie
23-02-2009, 02:26 AM
No I can't see the Academy voting for Hellboy. They tend to snub movies like that.

Beccaberry
23-02-2009, 02:26 AM
Good Lord my daughter is having a fit right now. :mental: :mental:

Johnie
23-02-2009, 02:27 AM
Does she see a certain vampire she likes?

Beccaberry
23-02-2009, 02:28 AM
Indeed she did...

Johnie
23-02-2009, 02:29 AM
 I still have not read those books yet.

Beccaberry
23-02-2009, 02:30 AM
Read 'em this summer...they'd be a nice summer read...you should be done with Gabldon by then, no?

Johnie
23-02-2009, 02:32 AM
I had to take a break from Galbadon. Apparently a new book is coming out this spring. So I have 2 more to go.

Beccaberry
23-02-2009, 02:33 AM
WOOHOO! A new one?

Excellent.

I just read "The Graveyard Book" (it's a children's book, but it was good)...not sure what's next...

Johnie
23-02-2009, 02:34 AM
Poor Joaquin....he's lost his mind and now being made fun of.

Beccaberry
23-02-2009, 02:35 AM
I feel so out of touch...I had no idea...I had to have Andrew explain it to me!

Johnie
23-02-2009, 02:40 AM

Beccaberry
23-02-2009, 03:04 AM
So then...will Heath win?

Johnie
23-02-2009, 03:05 AM
I think he deserves too. He was phenomenal as the joker.

Do you remember Josh Brolin in a tv show about the pony express? Early 90's...maybe late 80's. I loved that show.

Beccaberry
23-02-2009, 03:06 AM
Hmmmmm....I don't....about the pony express?

Johnie
23-02-2009, 03:09 AM
Young Riders....maybe>

YEAH! He won!!

Johnie
23-02-2009, 03:09 AM
ok all the teary eyes are getting to me....

Beccaberry
23-02-2009, 03:09 AM
OOOOOOOOOOOH YES!! I *DO* REMEMBER THAT SHOW!!!

I'm glad he won...though I'd like to have seen Brolin win as well....

Beccaberry
23-02-2009, 03:10 AM
Me too.

Johnie
23-02-2009, 03:11 AM
oh my....I need a tissue

Beccaberry
23-02-2009, 03:11 AM
Matilda...lovely.

Johnie
23-02-2009, 03:13 AM
I thought it poignant that they panned to Robert Downey Jr. If anyone should have been dead by now, it is certainly him. Though I am glad he isn't.

I just love Heath. Gone far too soon :sorry:

Beccaberry
23-02-2009, 03:14 AM
Indeed...

Beccaberry
23-02-2009, 03:17 AM
That was cool :D I got that one as well :D

Beccaberry
23-02-2009, 03:19 AM
Okies my friend, I'm off to watch the rest from bed...

Wish me luck! (on the Oscars, not the bed  )

Johnie
23-02-2009, 03:19 AM
are you going to go out and buy us a lottery ticket too?

Beccaberry
23-02-2009, 03:20 AM
hehehehe I haven't missed yet!

Johnie
23-02-2009, 03:20 AM

Ok, my comments are coming from the net, but....

I love it that Heath won! He really was a fantastic Joker.
Robert Downey Jr looked great and I am so thrilled that he has turned his life around and is acting again. I loved him as Charlie Chaplin.

Am upset that I missing getting to see Mr. Jackman as the host. He is incredible and I am stoked about Wolverine.

Angelina looked gorgeous as always.

Kate Winslet is so pretty and definitely deserves to win!

PsychoAlice
23-02-2009, 03:46 AM
OK the Jerry Lewis part had me tearing...and he hasnt spoken yet...Ill be a blubbering idiot in moments

PsychoAlice
23-02-2009, 03:48 AM

PsychoAlice
23-02-2009, 04:18 AM

Tink
23-02-2009, 05:13 AM
YES!!!!!! Sean Penn for MILK!!!!

I haven't watched the Oscars in years. Haven't cared a whit.

I am absolutely thrilled to bits that he's won! His acceptance speech was incredible too!

Sometimes things do work out as I think they should. :D :D :D

Tink
23-02-2009, 05:17 AM
Now that I am no longer in danger of fainting due to hyperventilating... :D

May I make a really uncharitable comment? What on earth has happened to Sophia Loren? She was such an incredibly beautiful woman...is that all plastic or botox or something? :( Sheesh.

Shirley McClain looked fabulous.

I missed all the fun - had quite a busy day at work between organising Thailand and actually doing work!

Trip is really coming together now! :)

I think this year's winners definitely seem to be deserving!

Time zones people - 8 hours ahead of the Oscars here. Sound asleep when the camera kept panning to Angelina.

i thought she looked quite drab in just black

Claire
23-02-2009, 11:17 AM
Tilda Swinton made a poor choice IMHO. She's already quite pale and her dress made her look even worse.

I think she always looks a bit mad in most of the things she wears. Thought kate Winslet and Jennifer Aniston looked lovely.

Johnie
23-02-2009, 01:05 PM
Well PA and I were texting last night during the latter part. I was all teary when Kate won. I just love her and I LOVE that her dad did whistle

I was quite pleased with Sean Penn winning as well. He is really a good actor and I liked his speech as well.

I am really going to have to go see Slumdog Millionaire.

Johnie

Beccaberry
