So I have decided that instead of going alone on my trip in May (May 20th-25th) I am going to surprise my daughter. Little does she know or anyone else but my mother what is going to go on. The plan is to this.

Secretly pack her some things (dont need that much its just for a few days), have her go with me to the airport and as we are saying our goodbyes (she will be all teary eyed) I will ask her if she is ready to get on the plane (I can get a flight from here leaving at 530pm and arriving at MCO at 1230am.)

Im almost afraid I am going to give her a heart attack...

Now the plan from there is (Im al just going to get us both AP's since we will be back in Dec) to TRY and have breakfast at CRT or the one in Norway the next morning...cause you know neither of us will get any sleep...

So thats the plan.

Have any of you ever surprised your kids at the airport? If so, how'd it go?

I've surprised family members before. It was wonderful! Lots of laughter, jumping up and down, and sometimes tears!

You'll be so happy you've done it. It's a great way to show a teen that there is still magic in the world, eh? :D :D

PA that is an awesome thing to do. Our first trip with kids in 03 was a surprise. We tried to keep it a secret but My Father let the cat out the bag. Make sure that she doesn't see you packing her things away. Where is your DS going to be.
Your a lovely Mommy.

So I changed my mind...

Yes I am still taking her...

Since I have to take her out of school half day and she wont be back to school because that week is the last week of school and I have been watching the darn Disney commercials with the balloons. Soooooo...

Ive decided and found mickey mouse head shaped balloons. Im going to ask her teacher if I can let 2 float into the classroom with her name on it...hmm hows that sound?

OK, I'm curious. How are you getting to the airport? Wouldn't she have known something was up when you said you were taking her to the airport with you? At any rate, I'm sure you'll break down and tell her soon. Have a great trip.

PsychoAlice

Nope she didnt suspect a thing. She has been quite a few times to the airport with me.

And nope...I am a month away from leaving. I am not telling her til that morning...Plans have changed as our flight now leaves at 930am (ugh)

Sooooo the plan is to let her think that it is a normal day but that Grandma is taking me to the airport that morning after we drop her off at school....but grandma is going to drive the other direction towards the airport. And when she asks then Ill tell her...

thats great PA - i love surprising people.

2 years ago we were going to see friends in SC for a bar mitzvah, anyway Dizneyblonde and i were chatting on MSN and she made me book a couple of days at WDW to surprise the family while over there. :unsure:The plan was that even Jon wouldn't know. Well silly disney sent confirmation of the resort to the house with 'your reservation details' or something like that written on the front and Jon got home before me- so i was rumbled but we kept it a secret from the kids for like 6 months. It was soooooooooooooo hard i can't tell you- i was bouncing off the walls at times and had to be careful. Anyway we went to the bar mitzvah and were heading out early the next day to FL- we told the kids we were going to the beach for a few days - well the kids were really upset and crying that they wanted to stay with their friends and can't they go to the beach here. So we started driving- much moaning- how far is this beach etc and i said it was an island in south georgia we were going to. Daniel guessed at daytona - i told him to be quiet and he got the hint but he started playing disney songs on the ipod and let Caitlin listen into one of the headphones. Anyway we're approaching Orlando and we started getting the bill boards for Disney world and Caitlin said 'are we going to Disney?' i said no we're going to the beach and we kept going and seeing more signs and then we went under the welcome sign and she's bouncing up and down in the back of the van and i'm crying and Daniel's bouncing and Jon's smiling. it was lovely!!! oh the memories  We checked into pop then went up to the room for a snooze as we were going to EMH that night but the kids and i couldn't rest - i was lieing on the bed looking at Caitlin saying we're at disney world etc etc but Jon had just driven 7 hours so we let him have 45 mins then we were up and in the parks. I now have a big smile on my face  forgive my ramblings!

Hi

I did a surprise trip for DH's 40th to DLP. Booked everything, booked time off work for DH & school was told - only people who knew was my family.

We were due to fly on Thurs am & on Tues night I decided i would have to tell DH as I could imagine someone at work the following day telling him to have a good time - & I wanted to be the one to tell him! He was so shocked & excited (our 1st Disney fix). We decided not to tell the girls until we got to airport. We managed to book in & get into departure lounge (think we said we were going to London!) & then we told them we were going to see Mickey. We had screams & everything (DD1 was 6 & DD2 was 3). DD1 then realised that she did not have Barney Bear from school & got really upset! Guess who I pulled out the bag!!!!

Great trip for all of us - including Barney xx

I love surprises but DH is not good at keeping them!

Hope you had a brill time xx
