View Full Version : How do you explain...

To an Orlando virgin who is staying on International Drive for 7 nights in April that they probably won't have time to do all of WDW, Universal Studios, Islands of Adventure, Wet and Wild and Seaworld? I've tried to explain the shear size of the parks plus the amount of time they'll spend waiting for transport as they've decided against hiring a car. I'm not making any progress! I mentioned that even after arriving at the TTC at the Magic Kingdom you need to allow approx 15 mins for catching either the monorail or the boat before you even arrive at the entrance to the park. I'm trying to save her money spent on entry tickets that they will be unable to utilise. I know she can maybe use them in the following year but I'm not wholly convinced she'll return to the area again. Any suggestions?

Thought about that but as far as the internet is concerned she goes as far as eBay then stops.

She might just be one of those people that won't listen and will need to see for herself.

this was my thought - I have had many similar conversations with people

have you tried the WDW is 42 square miles thing? - if she is going around Easter then it will be BUSY as well so she is even less likley do do it all

I guess. But it's funny isn't it. Because we love the place so much we want others to experience it as we do. Anything to avoid her having a negative experience.

tbh i don't bother talking to other people about it anymore, most people i work with think it's stupid so i just come on here for my fix. I guess this is my dirty little secret :ROFL1:

They won't listen. People are hard headed and need to learn for themselves. They will then come home and ask you why you didn't warn them. You have my permission to :slap: them.

Probably won't listen to anything you say. However...

WDW encompasses 47 square miles. Disneyland/CA is a two-day experience, and both parks can fit into the parking lot at MK. Not sure how DLP would compare in size, but if they've gone there, you could try that.

Orlando covers a lot of territory, and WDW isn't even in Orlando. It's in the Orlando area and is served by the Orlando airports. If using off-site resort shuttles, they are likely to arrive at parks well after opening and have to leave well before the evening finale/closing. Otherwise they need to rent a vehicle or book towncar service--taxis tend to be more expensive unless for a short distance.

MK is a one-day park minimum.
EPCOT is a two-day park minimum.
DHS is a one-day park minimum.
AK is a one-day park minimum.

That's five days right there. And that's hitting the highlights--assuming they're able to go from attraction to attraction in a logical manner and not have to backtrack or wait in 1-hour plus queues. If arriving at the parks much later than rope drop during busy season, they are likely to have to queue for fastpass attractions that run out of fastpasses quickly (voice of experience here!).

Realistically, the people you want to help will do it their way and think they have done and seen it all--or blame you for not setting them straight!

You are not going to be able to convince them hun, they are just going to have learn the hard way. AND you are going to have to try really really hard to not smirk and say "I told you so" when they get back

They may have been on the same flight as my neice and her boyfriend....the weather looks good for the next week or so for them.
