The first car I bought myself was a '73 MG Midget. I was co-owner of several before that, but the Midget was my first purchase all on my own.

My first car was a 1957 Ford. The first car I ever bought, totally on my own was a 1969 Plymouth Roadrunner.

My first car that I bought and paid for was a 1967 Chevy Caprice that I got used from a friend of my dad's, but man do I wish I still had that car now.

The first I had was Mercury Tracer. Man I miss that car, it had pick up. I could just buzz around in that little thing....now drive the "mommy" type of vehicle...the dreaded van.

I have to say that while being in school my parents have offered to supply me with a car, so I have yet to buy my first.

A 1972 light blue Vauxhall Viva. :D

It did 65 flat out and about 3 gallons to the mile. I cried when I sold it.

A 1976 Hillman Hunter bought for 50 - in 1985 - it had failed it's MOT ( a roadworthiness test )

It would just about creep over the ton (on the wildly optimistic speedometer)

Mine was a white Ford Fiesta but i only had it a week when it had to go back to the dealer as they had sold me a duffer and i got my money back.
Never bought one on my own after that but when
i got married we bought a red Ford Escort.

Since my divorce the very first car i bought and paid for myself was a purple Ford KA.

I had a rover metro 1.1! I passed my test and a couple of months later i drove it from Bath to Blackpool on the motorway - it screamed up! Then our next trip was from Bath to Cornwall - so it screamed down the motorway! Good little car - not much room inside though.
Sold it for a Peugeot 306 - i LOVED this car, would get another one any day

First car was a 1957 Ford Fairlane. Two-tone white and grey. Purchased it for $75 from a neighbor who was being shipped to Vietnam. Sold it back to him for $125 when he returned five years later. The only maintenance ever done on it was change the oil once a year!

It was a gas hog--about 3 miles to the gallon (rather than 3 gallons to the mile, like Dawn's!)--and had quirks. The previous owner was tall and had replaced the front seat with one that was very low and didn't adjust. I drove seated on and surrounded by cushions! And while the windshield wipers worked fine, you had to turn the switch on inside, then go outside, raise the hood and press a wire.

First new car purchased was my 1974 Mustang. My father fell in love with it and drove it for the first two years--I had to ask to borrow it! I traded it when I purchased my 1986 Mazda 626. I tend to keep cars a while! :D

It was a Ford Anglia 100E which cost 50 and was jointly owned by my friend and I.
My first car which I owned myself was a 1963 Mini Cooper. [0-60mph in 10 seconds was quick in those days!]

we managed to sell it on and DH bought me a shiny black Fiat something or other! One day as i was leaving work in my new Fiat i heard a familiar little beep beep and lo and behold there was my little brown car coming along the road towards me! the poor little car obviously recoginsed me didn't it...:sorry:

Oooh my mum used to have a Ford Anglia. Every morning she had to lift the bonnet and whack the starter motor with a stick before it would start.

Cars are just no fun these days. :sigh:

Mine was a 1977 S reg white MKII Ford Escort. It would have been 11 years old when i got it. I remember it cost 300 and my insurance for it was 300 as well. She was called Matilda :D

It had no radio for a while so I remember whoever sat in the passenger seat had to hold a portable stereo with it's ariel hanging out of the window
The windscreen used to freeze on the inside if it got cold - but I loved that car and cried my eyes out when i had to push it to the garage when it finally died :sorry:

:worship:Oh my gosh really? Was it moss green colored? Did you have the 6 pack?

The first car I ever really owned (after a gift from my MIL - 1970 Chevy Nova sedan =BTW...NOVA = doesn't go in Spanish - aptly named) was a 1980 blue Chevy Monza - it was the cheapest car in America at the time and it lived up to its reputation - a very badly designed car, but hey I was proud. I had a job as a teacher and a new car. No AC, AM radio - not even one option. IT was BASIC.

My first car was a light blue Triumph Herald.
Drove it all over the Wirral till somebody coming the other way turned right, right in front of me. Front wheel ended up 2ft nearer the back wheel.

Mine was a silver Dodge 600 (from my grandparents to my sister to me!). It had a 'turbo' engine and when it kicked on it sounded like an ambulance siren. My friends would freak out and tell me to pull over but I would laugh at them!

The first car I bought and paid for was a Saturn SC2. It was black and had a sun roof. I was so cool...
