Is there a guide anywhere on how to phone home from the US?

what to dial and the cheapest way to do it?

I don't know the cheapest way to do it but I believe many of our members purchase either pay as you go phones or buy phone cards that get reduced rates. To dial the UK from the US you dial 011 44 and drop any leading zeros from your phone number.

from the uk you dial +44 and drop the 0 from the number you call and thats it :)

Actually the CHEAPEST (free other than paying for internet connection) way to do it is probably to take a laptop and use Skype to talk to people.

Before I did that, I used phone cards which seemed cheap and easy enough
