Apple has ditched their 'clip' design and gone back to the original ipod shuffle 'tall and thin' design! They've removed any buttons from the actual device and instead put them onto the earphones...

I'm on the fence with this one. I like the idea of controlling it by the headphones, but I think the beauty of the ipod shuffle was it was good for people like my Mum who can't get their head round a click wheel and just wanted a high quality *simple* iPod, and I just don't think she'd be able to use those new earphones

blimey its sooooooo small

not always sure that small is better though and i'm not sure how robust the controls on the cord will be - or maybethats the entire point

The other thing I don't like about it (even though I'm an Apple bigot ) is the voice navigation of your playlists. I've got a couple hundred playlists on my regular iPod. Can't imagine the boredom of having Izzy the iTunes announcer speaking each of those playlists. Especially if the one I want is at the bottom.

Tom (:macwave:... I'll stick with my regular, old iPod for now, thanks!)

I definatley agree on both of those points. I can't help but think it looks really boring too. Major let-down by apple on this one I think.... :( (I am shocked that I actually have a bad word to say about apple!)

 Hey! It's just a drop in the ocean compared to the MASSIVE mistake Bill Gates made... I'll give you a clue... V_ _ _A

I prefer my little one with the clip as it's so useful at the gym.(when i eventually get back there)

Where would i attach/put that one?

I think it works the same way Teresa. As far as I can tell it has a clip on the back.

Josh put that Apple had ditched their clip design in his opening post so i assumed there wasn't one.

Not that i go to the gym often enough to warrant getting another one anyway!

Did he? I missed that! Scrolling back up to check.

If you look here (http://www.apple.com/uk/ipodshuffle/) and look at the side on view you can see the clip on the back though.

I love my little 2gig shuffle...works great at work...I also like that i can use the head phones i want on them...i ditched the head phones that came with it after about 15 minutes of use and put my koss headphones in...just more money for apple to suck more $$ out of me..adapter for it...ok but i HAVE to buy THOSE headphones? ehh i think not..

Woops! I meant the old square one.. you know the way that the clip was sort of part of the ipod? It still has a clip but i'ts not like a badge

I *think* they would use those external controls that most docking stations have  Not sure what you would do if you have just speakers with no controls  Apple have completely messed this one up
